Wow, so much flaming going on...never used to be like this...just saying...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I hope everyone can be civil about it...
I honestly think this deep heated argument stems from the fact that people still have a stigma against Sony, prob not as a gaming company but more as a tech company that has fallen of its pedestal...they used to innovate like nobody could imagine. They have since gone downhill which even the CEO kaz admits... They are since trying to regain their place in a society that feels companies like apple and samsung r more innovative...how people feel about that us their opinion, such as, I personally don't thinksamsung or apple r innovative, they simply have excellent marketing teams that make it seem simple to the general public that they should get their phones cos they r the best...well, this is Sony's move to get back into the business, they have come out with a kickass phone that people who appreciate great design with no compromise on performance and features will definitely like and most likely buy. someone mentioned that the software side is Sony's downfall but I think that the ecosystem is so far advanced now that u can literally download an app for everything u need. Same goes for pretty much every android phone, why do u think that Samsung is looking to slowly move away from android cos without android they would probably not be anywhere as big as they are. There was an article about this floating around on the web. Does Samsung make android successful or the other way around? I think Samsung knows that the marketing garbage theyshove down people's throats is nonsense, it's not innovative at all but they have been successful in selling it to the public. It's Sony's turn now to wow their fans back and I for one love it. It doesn't need so many USPs that people will flock to them straight away, it just needs a foot in the door and make a profit then Sony can start pumping the marketing right in peoples faces in order to encourage them to continue using xperias n that's where water and dust resistance comes in.after using a water and dust resistant phone that looks bloody sexy, they wouldn't want to go back to a non water resistant phone...I know, cos I'm using the Xperia v right now n will never go back to a normal phone. I'm really happy with Xperia n everyone of my friends that used my phone love it. Beautiful interface with just as many gimmicks as the galaxy range and even if not, it's not as if u can't download the feature from the play store! I certainly hope people realise this as I have and that the ecosystem is so important.which is why I think windows phone 8 will have a hard time to catch up despite being a really good system and blackberry is as good as dead. Sorry for rant, just my opinion...

Tbh I doubt ill buy another phone this year. Im so happy with the sgs3 not even its successor will probably get me to buy it. And if the screen is much bigger I dont think id like it.

I persoanlly have changed jobs this year and my finances now mean after paying all my bills I could buy a new flagship phone every month. So unless some real innovation comes from Htc or Sammy ill keep my Sgs3.

What would make me like the Z ? Nothing atm. I just dont like the design and theres no significant (to me) USP worth getting it for. I dont doubt its a good phone but would like to see more inspiring designs and better software gimmicks. Laugh all you guys want but I find smart stay invaluable now, pop up play also - I just wish it worked in the Youtube app also.

These gimmicks are what differentiates one manufacturers phone from their rivals Android phones. Sony needs to do this now - this is very important !! . Which is why we dont see Nokia Android phones. Nokia are going down a better route imo by making the best WP phones.

Okay, cheaper than expected...

Even people who dislike Sony will want one now, lol...

Actually, Expansys are lying.

It says £399.99 until you click on it at which point it says £529.99. When you then pre-order it displays as £440 (£399.99 + 20% VAT). Sneaky buggers. Avoid.

Expansys also have Xperia Z & ZL available for pre-order on expansys UAE, the Z has a pre-order price while ZL doesn't

Z price in AED is 2615 Dirhams, which translate to BHD 268, very close to what Xperia arc was ( BHD 249~259 )... BHD 268 translate to USD 711...

I guess the bundled headphone plays a role for that price increase...

It was a mistake but I managed to grab it at the wrong price and my bank called and confirmed it.
Though I think it won't be honored by Expansys...

First of all m nt defending any company viz.. sony or samsung or apple....its all personal preferences......for me every company is best..as they all are putting lots of research and testing ...for me all the company is best;-)

my question is can u please tell me the exact date when the galaxy introduced pop up play...and the date when the super video app in android markt was avaible..????

and about smart stay on....maybe its innovative..i agree to u buddy....but there are many app available in android market for that feature....and as u told its innovative than how can other developer can make a software which gives same interface or function as smart stay and pop up play gives...and why isnt the sony walkman app and sony album app kind of application are available in market..????

Samsung Smart Stay app was copied from an app on Play store that was available since a long time before S3 launch.
