all i'm saying for the "fact-based" category is that u start from a existing factual premise and u apply ur projection to the fact to come out with the "subjective comment".

e.g. "SE growth continues...become X biggest" - u know for a fact that SE has grown 50% last year and u deduce it will be X biggest. It can happen or it may not. That's your subjective comment
==============================
"delusional" category means that u start by plucking something out from thin air which is not backed by facts and u come out with ur "subjective comment".

e.g. "SE has interest at heart.... Nokia exploits" - this starting premise is pure speculation only.

That's all very well if you can actually have a 'fact' to begin with, but any 'fact' can be used in a number of ways. If company A outsells company B does that mean that company A is better than company B? It might do, but it is a subjective matter even though one is starting from a factual premise that premise can be looked at in a numbe rof different ways.
There is nothing wrong with using a point that is not backed by 'facts' because such a point is still valid in terms of one's personal opinion, which in essence is a fact and can be used to repudiate a fact e.g.
Company A's mobiles are of a better quality than Company B's. No they're not because I don't think so.
It doesn't matter what Company A's mobiles are made from, if that person doesn't think they are better than Company B's, then for that person they are not, whethe ror not that is backed up by a 'fact'.

@scotsboyuk:
agreed with u there. but this is a forum and like in any debate, if we don't start from "fact" then it is like playing a game of soccer without the goal posts.

I think this debate has become increasingly theoretical in nature, perhaps we should try and get back on topic and concentrate on the issue at hand.
If we are to discuss facts, we need to agree upon what those facts actually mean. Sales/growth figures are highly subjective and I'm not too sure they would be the best 'facts' to discuss here.

@scotsboyuk:
I think u hv read recently that SE has license SD memory card format.
I'm just speculating here whether this indicates that SE realised that MemoryStick is no longer viable. So if this is the case then my previous assertion that SD format will give competitive edge to Nokia maybe is correct.

There are really only two ways of looking at the SD card issue; either Sony memory sticks are no longer viable or SE have decided that the SD format is simply a better option. If it is the former then it would seem to be a prudent move, in my opinion, to change as soon as possible. If it is the latter option then it is perhaps indicative of SE's determination to increase its market share, even if that means going against the grain of one of its parent companies.

with this change of mindset, maybe SE will come out with a Series60 phone (instead of the unproductive go-it-alone with UIQ3).
It would be a wise move because SE can ride on the popularity of Series60. Just imagine Nokia sold 3 million Series60 in Q3 04 alone and it is now growing like 250% per annum.
The thing about a smartphone is that once u get hook on it, it is unlikely that u will revert to a normal phone. So there is a huge potential of repeat/upgrade business.

You have no basis to label UIQ3 'unproductive' as SE haven't released any handsets, which use it yet. I would prefer to wait until they do before passing judgement. Personally I'm quite glad they haven't adopted Series 60 and I really hope they don't; it sets them apart from Nokia and othe rmanufacturers.
I have a P900, which I don't use as much now in favour of my K700 and my S700. I do still use the P900 as an organiser, but I am waiting for the P1000.

maybe i'm passing judgement but it is a calculative one.
UIQ3 has not even come out and i think symbian maybe having problem with this. Why SE want to go thru the entire pain to deploy UIQ3. Why not use the tested Series60 platform?
P900 is a very expensive and a big and heavy phone. It is not a phone where u can use "normally" or "ruggedly". It is more like a PDA. Maybe that is why u find it more convenience to use your K700.
But a Series60 phone like the 7610/6670 is as small as the K700 but much more advanced which u can use "normally" like u use ur K700.

@mib1800
The fact that the P900 resembles a PDA is why I bought it. The reason I use it less now is because I have only recently bought both a K700 and a S700.
Calculative judgements, in this case, are useless since we have insufficient facts to go on. Why shouldn't SE use UIQ3? We should they use Series 60? Why Should Apple not use Windows? In my opinion SE want to maintain some element of difference from other manufacturers, UIQ3 will allow them to do this. Miles Flint has indicated that SE will be using UIQ3 to release a range of smaller smartphone sover the course of the next year.
