^ fake. Because the cameras and other sensors also turned red. Just an edited XZ2P.
------
I think the design will be changed for smartphones launched in IFA 2019, just after the new naming scheme for 2019.

The bad news is, they won't be launching this phone in UK & Ireland.

After the XZ2P's announcement, here's what I'm thinking:
- I think this is not their real flagship.
- I think XZ2P will only be launched in some markets, like Japan, China, etc.
- I thought the new sensors are entirely new. It turns out, that they've only added an IMX477 next to their old IMX400.
- I don't think XZ2P is going to be a hit (although, reviews might say otherwise).

^that's interesting.
If that rationale is to be believed, it's like saying "the older phones are popular there, this one isn't THAT much better to make most people want to upgrade, so we'll just not release it in those locations and save money". at least, that's how I see it.
Definitely will be holding onto my XZP longer... wait for the next design iteration and improvements on the camera, which undoubtedly will be nice, but not perfect out of the gates.
I still find it very strange that they felt the need to announce it now when they could finish up the software for it (bokeh mode, etc) and maybe even tweak the design some more for an IFA announcement and same day launch. Now they're announcing it with little fanfare, and software features aren't gonna be available til end of summer AND the phone isn't gonna be release for another 3 months. by then it will be forgotten for the most part. they better be releasing constant examples of how impressive the dual camera setup is to remind people that it's coming otherwise they will be shit out of luck when it finally does release.

^ What a weird move indeed... I would dare to say it is idiotic move actually. What on earth are they doing?! They have no clue either I guess.

It is half baked product!

Yep, whether my next phone is going to be a Sony or not, I think I should wait until IFA, since no H1 2018 products are capable enough for me.
Sony should just cancel the XZ2P and make XZ3P instead, along with other products announced in IFA this year. What a waste of money for investing on such half-baked phone.

Actually the XZ2P was planned to introduce early this year. I guess nobody read my comments...
And the sub-sensor monochrome isnt IMX477, its IMX380-derivated, no stacked sensor, only main IMX400 is stacked one....
And if anyone have some spare time, try checking the "Gray" or Silver color of STH40D and compare it to XZ2P, see if i was right.....

I knew that. Although, thanks for correcting me about the IMX477 secondary camera.

Honestly I am amazed with this new camera architect with it's own processor
Also 18:9 was the main reason as the 5 MP front camera to not buying XZ2 , they corrected those 2 mistakes with 16:9 and 12 MP front camera
Still I missed the power FPS but I think it maybe the next mistake to fix
All in all this phone will be mine when they start selling it
