I think we'll see Z5+ too. It doesn't make sense for it to debut in 2016 when SD820 is available. Later in the year is stupid too cause we'll have 2 month period between flagships. So I believe we'll see Z5C Z5 and Z5+ along with a new tablet and smartwatch

While the Z5+ is a possibility for it to arrive at ifa, there were those photos leaked of it, but that doesn't mean it will come at ifa, could have just been shown off to potential wireless clients or internally to sony workers.

Thing is, if the device is to come out much later and is introduced at ifa, the time from introduction to market time will be around 3 months, which will be brutal and might not be the best idea, considering other devices to debut at the show from other manufacturers might be out within a month at the most.

The only issue for me is the 4k display, if real and true, then either Sharp has accelerated the screen to 2015 or Sony developed their own, because otherwise I can't see this coming this year.

As far as i'm concerned, z5+ will be announced with z5 and z5c as by now we know it is a world device and not a carrier variant and launched in october/november because vizileaks just mentioned they are aiming it for Christmas, that is not a lunch date as no manufacturer launch their flag on christmas day (25th of december) and not even in december because it is way too late to reach the market and bond movie is debuting on 6th of november so they better launch it around bond date or before that if they want consumers to take z5+ in consideration. no brainer.

Releasing it in December is not logical at all. Wait for 2 more months and go with SD820. Since they were on the postel and UAProf around same dates, I am pretty sure we'll see it at IFA also. If ricciolo is right and Sony can cool down SD810 without throttling we are in for a treat my friends. Moreover, we kind of know sd820 heats up too (rumors) then Sony is really solving a big headache.

Well Sony is getting interesting since imo Samsung failed to deliver for 2 generations. Htc is ok but low on budget. Lg has no class. 2015-2016 could really shine Xperias. Apart from Nokia. 2016 could be a brutal year if Nokia come up with some smartphone version of N1 Tablet with killer camera and takes it home. I am excited.

Of course releasing it later on would be suicide and stupid, in fact it would be going back to the old sony days which is not what sony needs to be doing now.

they can do like what samsung is doing with S6+, just launch the Z5+ later at MWC next year, will be the only company with a high end phablet for H1 2016. No need to go head on with the rest like S7 and G5 except for maybe those Chinese brand. But is is also possible that Samsung will announce a S7+ but that is too close S6+ announcement and Note 5. Which will piss a lot of people off.

If Sony somehow managed to to cool down the SD810 then I don't see an issue in using that soc. New camera sensor, 4GB RAM, polished design, fp-reader, new UI...The Z5 is way more a worthy successor than Z3+

@thetube
Maybe Samsung failed to sell as much devices as expected but still they dominate the Android market. It's matter of time till HTC goes Nokia's route. Question is which chinese OEM will buy them? LG will have the new Nexus 5 and the rumored LG Pro in stores and looking at their past 2 years they are developing quite well. Great camera, decent battery life, freedom in terms of expandable storage and removable battery, UI is getting better, but what's missing is the "bang", their design language is just boring and the plastic look and feel is a no-go. 2016 and 2017 could be the year of the chinese brands IF they decide to expand to other markets than China or India. Huawei for an example is doing quite well in germany and not just with midrange devices. Don't put any hopes in Nokia, atleast I don't. They sold their hole R&D to MS, laid off so many employees and lost the brainiacs behind pureview and other Nokia famous goodies. You can expect a decent speced smartphone with great built quality and design, but not a "game-changer". The glory days of Nokia belong to the past.

Well you are right. But I believe they can make the same camera on lumia 1520 or 1020 without upgrading and that would be more than useful taking the manual controls are already on board into account.

I think this (the LeTV teaser) is the first official teaser to strongly suggest SD820 inside.

Also, Qualcomm have said themselves that they expect SD820 handsets to be out for first half 2016 (note first half not quarter). I guess that's a firm a 'no' as we'll get for the IFA announcement getting 820.
