I had the problem as well.
To solve it, copy all the pictures from your picture folder (not the cam album) to your PC.. Then go to the picture viewer and delete the random pictures. (the ones it shouldnt be showing)
Then put the pictures you copied to your pc back to your phone. It wont show random pictures anymore.

I found that the random pictures (other than the camera captured ones) which are shown in the Media (under latest photo) are those pictures(wallpapers) which are created by some graphic software like ACDSee,Photoshop etc. You can check this by viewing their properties in windows. Right click->Properties->Summary->Advanced.
