Do you have any data other than your opinion that there is no market for devices that large? If Sony is making a 6.44" phablet they would never have done so without conducting market research and confirming there was in fact some sort of demand.
Personally, I'm getting the ZL for now and upgrading to the pbablet so long as it has all the features of the 2h flagship.

Its true that fanboyism helps the Note series sell well, but it is still a good market segment that Sony cannot leave
The other reason that SS is enjoying the Phablet segment is because there are no worthy competitor to the Note series.
If Sony can come up with a phablet that offer better competitive advantages, this will draw Consumers in that segment to consider Sony's Phablet in their Evoke set. I believe Sony can do it, make good use of PS Mobile and Camera as well as the Walkman.

Sony has made it clear that they will be increasing their marketing in the future, plus, I think they're tablets should do well.
The design is a crowd pleaser, they have a great set of specs and with good marketing, like they have done with the Z so far, they should do well.
