if your phone doesn't have a problem,there's no need to update it!But,it is preferable to keep it updated as,often,newer software versions make it faster or reduce/disappear different problems or upgrade different parts such as the camera or display making them to have better quality!

But sometimes there isn't a visible difference for "us",the end users!I recomend you,however,to update it via SEUS or WotanServer.

The latest EROM version is:R3A016 via WotanServer(don't know if SEUS update it,but wou can update it via WotanServer for free and it's preferable to have your EROM upgraded as it is something like BIOS in PC or something similar)and R1KG001 is the latest firmware version.

If you have questions,PM me!

hi! i'm newbie here and i'll ask a stupid question (sory). here it goes:
My k800 is working fine (i think) is it necessary downloading the last driver version??

well,new firmwares offer some improvements,more stability,more speed,improved drivers,nice features etc. as mentioned in the starting post,have a read...however,there are some new bugs and faults,and who knows,maybe the new firmware causes some new problems on your phone,as mine is on trouble......so have a balance between improvements and bugs and choose for yourself....
anyways,newer firmwares are always prefered,i perform update whenever a new one is available(- the last one which damned my phone)

@iGO12,

for updating via WotanServer,you must buy some 'credits',so you must pay with your credit card,if you have one!If you have credit card,go buy 2 or 5 credits.They will be very useful.If you don't have credit card,then update via SEUS.It's absolutely free.Via WotanServer,the update is full,which means that whatever you have in your phone will be wiped.Also,you have the possibility to alter some settings in the firmware.

Via SEUS,you won't lose anything because,this,updates only some parts of the firmware.But,i recommend personally WotanServer.If you have PC,make a copy of whatever you have in your phone and go!!

There are instructions!

For Wotan:www.wotanserver.com
For SEUS:www.sonyericsson.com/support.

Just wonder why R1KG001 is never released for APAC...it's very weird as whenever SEUS releases a new firmware, APAC is always among the first...

Sorry to be off topic. Got a quick question for Aremaboy. You have any experience with the w880? I might get one as a spare phone. You seem to be up on things here, so figured I would ask you.

Thanks

@sapporobaby
Unfortunately I haven't had any experience with W880i. Just my old K800i. What's up?
