I'd really like to change my wife's silver K610i to a red one, and I've asked a few SE Service Centres who say they can do it. It would involve the shell, battery cover, keypad etc. I just wonder while those parts seem straightforward, would they also change the backlight for the keypad. Surely if they do it the warranty should be ok?

Will they not exchange the whole unit? I mean, why do they need to change the shell, etc.? Why don't they just exchange the whole unit and just require for an additional amount for warranty of the new one?

i dont think they gave a new fone, just cos u wanna get anothet cover colour. they reaplce it if your one is faulty, but if its working fine, i doubt that se just give u a new one for a used one. warranty has nothing to do with it.

The phone itself is fine. I just wanted a different colour to the one I got with the contract. I don't want to void its warranty, which is why I am having official SE Service Centres do the work. Haven't done it yet, still making enquiries.

In that case, they will also need to change the backlight...

afaik if the leds are changed, the warranty is over, but if its made in se service its another story. might be to buy a new or light used red one would be cheaper then to rebuilt the fone

Well, he said SE will be the one to make all the changes. So, the warranty still continue..

I'm trying to check the updates on my phone for the fw and it takes forever 'searching for update' until now. What's the best way to have that upgrade?
