Would it not be better, then, to go to T-Mobile and give your mum the money you save to pay for her calls to you?

Apparently T-Mobile also give you a free GPS bundle with the "Vario II"...

I would like to see a TyTn. I rang 02 the other day, who told me I should go into a store and see one. I went into a store and they denied the existance of the damn thing. Its a shame the shop attendants are not educated about upcoming phones...

Is there any clue as to when it will be possible to go into a store (any network) and see one of these things? I'm desperate to make my decision between 990 and TyTn. I'm thinking "try the WM TyTn for a year and see if its worth it. don't worry about missing out on the pollished SE gimicks, like camera, lens cover, business card scanner, OCR dictionary, etc."

I also bought a bluetooth keyboard for my p900-p910, cost me £80ish a long while ago. i would like to think that it will work on my 990 (if I ge one) or even my TyTn (its got better keys hands down), but something tells me I wont be able to get a new driver for my "no-make" keyboard... anyone else know anything about this? Ultimately, the TyTn has its own keyboard and so it wont be a problem. I like the idea of having a keyboard to make effective use of office apps. The 990 wont stand a chance with HWR and a crappy little kayboard only. Ive never successfully used the keyboard on the 910 in the stead of the HWR - its very good. but to be fair I've never needed to type enough on the 910 to make it worth while using a keyboard anyway.

Might do some research on network coverage in my area, then possible switch to T-Mobile for GPS, WnW, better contract, etc. Either that or scare Orange into giving me the same deal... supervisor's are cool

I suppose (from what I understand) that if I had already made my decision, I could just buy a TyTn over the phone and there would be no need to worry - it is available after all no? Its just not in-store yet apparently. Plus orange say they wont have it in normal stores, only the rare Business Centres :/

(Back home people atlast hehehehe.......might post sum pictures of Norfolk from the TyTN camera if ur lucky)

The backlight/camera flash problem ive seen on xda developers forum AND mobilitytoday.com. Get it RMA'd for a new one it seems a known fault????

So far my TyTN (HT628 model) is working flawlessly i hope others are b'cos this is a GREAT handset. mobilefun.co.uk finally delivered my UltraII 1GB SDmicro card so im sorting that out now...nice hehehe. ALSO O2 have registered the replacement 3G sim card now and ive been getting UMTS reception throughgout York so far 2night (had a few so dont count on much 2night).

To be P990 or to be Tytn... That is the question.

After reading 26 pages of discussion I think I'm leaning towards the Tytn.

My only worry is that it doesn't have a radio... something I use a lot on my current phone.

Would I be able to listen to radio stations via the web on the Tytn?

Have any Tytn owners' tried this?

I prefer the P990's screen when compared to the 2 faulty Tytn's I have had. Others no doubt will disagree with me.

Thanks for your input, Jah. Appreciated.

Anybody else with both devices have any advise?
As I said, looking at photos is pretty important to me, so if there is a big difference in screenquality then it would be decisive to me.

Thanks

Whilst the P990i screen is definitely higher quality than the TyTN (262k vs 65k colours for a start), I dont' think on balance the difference is as marked as it would first seem.
IMO the WM5 UI does the screen no favours at all wheras the UIQ3 UI with all its eye candy and hi-res, hi-colour icons perhaps gives the impression that the difference between the two is more than it really is.
When viewing photos or playing movies on both devices, you can just about tell the difference but I don't think it is really anything to loose sleep over.

@ woodsman
Here's my review of tytn as a picture viewer only.
I've been using the p910 and was waiting for the p990 but plumped for the tytn last week. I used to use the p910 as a photo album to view scaled-down pics taken with my proper camera. I transferred my favourites to my new tytn and viewed a few pics on both devices side by side. I use MS outlook express to shrink the pics (by going to send them as email, choosing "make my pictures smaller" and then dragging the new pic file to desktop). With the p910 there is sometimes a slight scaling of the colours, showing graduation lines. This was emphasised with the tytn because of 'only' having 65000 colours, although the colours did look deeper and richer on the tytn.
The p910's software for displaying your pics is much more intuitive and the features are better than the default viewer on the tytn.
Overall, as a picture viewer I think I prefer the p910 but I may change this if I find better viewer software and a better way of shrinking the KBsize of my pics that doesn't show so much scaling of the colours on the tytn.
sorry but I can't compare the tytn with the p990 but i'd imagine it's at least as good as the p910. Hope this is informative.

Regarding the screen quality on the p990i, its nice theres no doubt about it but ive noticed its terrible in the sunlight or when your in a bright area...can hardly make out what the screen says. Seems like SE only put in brightness controls but no contrast controls etc.

Anyone else notice this??

Yes - was the same on the M600i too.
