That's NOT what I said - I was merely speculating as to why the current situation exists, citing the information you've given us to draw a possible logical conclusion....
I didn't mean to get your hopes up - sorry!

Hello, I have been sort of lurking here for a while now and have found immense
information to help me with my P1i and thank everyone for all the help.
I got my P1i in Jan this year with firmware Version (not very fast,
but manageable performance).
Phone: CXC 162037 R9G007
BT: CXC 162143 R1C
ORG: CXC 162108 R6D23
CDA: 162024/73 R2A
01/22/08 I updated firmware to firmware below and performance improved-
Phone: CXC 162037 R9J005
BT: CXC 162143 R1D
ORG: CXC 162108 R6F41
CDA: 162022/1 R6F38
Then yesterday earlier -3/14- using XS++3.1 I tried update to WG1 R6G04
but wasn't able to as it kept staying at the Version above.
I chose the alternate HK and managed to update to:
Phone: CXC 162037 R9J005
BT: CXC 162143 R1D
ORG: CXC 162156 R6F41
CDA: 162024/74 R10A
Performance jumped very significantly upward- a pleasant surprise.
Last night I decided to try XS++3.1 to bring it up to WG2 and update to:
Phone: CXC 162037 R9K009
BT: CXC 162143 R1D
ORG: CXC 162108 R6G04
CDA: 162022/2 R6G02
But to my 'sad' surprise performance went lower than the HK version
even though its a much older.
Anyone else had a similar experience?
I intend going back to the older HK version as I find it much better.
Thanks,
Graph

I just noticed a problem with pictures as e-mail attachments, which I hadn't (noticed) before the update.
When sending a picture taken with the built-in camera, it arrives as text output instead of a picture!
It seemed the MIME encoding setting was un-ticked by default. (Email accounts settings: Advanced: Outgoing: MIME)
superb:) thnks a lot...

Speech Codec rate:

Afaik, there isn't any news yet.
Patience is virtue - one I don't have.
That's why my P1i is going to be my last UIQ device, at least for a very long time.
I actually don't use it anymore, only for experimenting purposes..
WM is the way to go.
Anyway..
Back to P1i.
I have noticed another thing lately.
Format & master reset set the default value for the backlight to different levels.
It's 65% after format and 90% after master reset.
Odd.

The format level is probably a legacy default from previous versions, but it is odd that there should be two sets of defaults (bloatware?)....hope they don't go the same way as MS - keep it lean and mean I say!!!

I think the P1i is great. However last night I loaded a whole load of music on to a 4G card in the phone and found out what a night mare it is creating playlists. You have to select each tune individually and add each individually.
Each time you select a tune the selection menu returns to the top of the list. So, if you have 100+songs like me you have to do a whole load of scrolling.
Can this be sorted in the next version please.

Meantime... This might help...
Well it seems like everyone is finding their own solutions, which is good. But in case it is still useful, I have just released my tiny freeware jPlaylist application (from the website below).
After downloading, there's a small amount of set-up to do, as explained in the readme file. Once done, here's how jPlaylist works:
1. In Windows Explorer, right-click on any music file (mp3, m4a, aac) and select Open With > jPlaylist. A m3u playlist will be created containing every music file in that directory. The playlist will be compatible with UIQ3 phones.
or
2. In Windows Explorer, right-click on any existing m3u playlist and select Open With > jPlaylist. The playlist will be converted to be compatible with UIQ3 phones.
What jPlaylist is doing: very simply ensuring that every track in the playlist is of the format
D:\Music\(album name)\(track name).(suffix)
I find jPlaylist is sometimes useful to me, so I hope it helps some of you.
Best regards,
Malcolm
