So hopefully this EMP will allow better playback of media including H264.

sorry to be a complete noob in these technical matters, but apart from possible better handling of video files, what are the likely benefits of an EMP processor over a Nexperia processor ?

Could it be faster even though they both have the same clock speed?

Not a fanatic, just a fan.

I'd be glad to point out some of the disappointment of SE in recent memory if you like...

I own a K750i, W880i, and an M600i.

K750: A little bulky - cam is only 2.0 MP. Not much nowadays. Resolution of main screen seems low/small compared to my newer phones. Battery life is good and in general it's a great phone.
W880i - phone is great, the weight (77 grams) is fabulous, Biggest problem with this phone is the battery life. About 1.5 days on *standby.* (no calls.) That's terrible. Both BST-33 batteries I have prove the same. Missing FM radio and WiFi.
M600i - also missing FM radio and WiFi. Interface options layout not terribly intuitive, but that's getting pretty nit-picky. I miss the FM radio and LAN however.

Adding features means taking up more physical space on the phone. To have ALL the features on a slim 77 gram phone doesn't sound like an expectation today. Maybe in a few years... in the meantime, it's a continual tradeoff of size versus functionality.

That's what makes the G900 so attractive. Even if it's missing the HDSPA for you, that's still pretty damn close to perfect. Even closer for me, since that happens to be one thing that isn't high on my priority list. Only unknown about the G900 at this point is battery life.

Just my 0.02.

oh yeah, and I also don't like the wasted space immediately surrounding the display area on the W880i. By definition on a phone, display area is at a minimum. I don't understand why they would waste that space surrounding the display area. It looks like it's about 3mm. And then there is the inconsistency in A/C power adapters. ALL of my SEs appear to have the identical physical connection type, so I would expect the A/C adapater/chagers to be interchangable (since they themselves are identical.) Not the case - at least not with the hardware I was sent.

OTOH - maybe I just got a deficient w880i. I dunno....

I just recharged a battery in my M600i via the A/C adapter and the thing charged to full in less than an hour. The USB connection from my PC will charge my w880 slowly, but it NEVER reaches 100%. None of my identical power adapters will charge my w880i at all.

I didn't think this was cutting edge, make or break technology, but maybe it is...

From the look of the renderings it looks glossy and hard. It's basically a advanced candybar phone so I guess it'll be similar to W960.

We're complaining because again SE is so close, but still not there. Nobody complained about anything that the N95 had until it actually came out where the battery and memory didn't do it justice, but at least its inception was greeted warmly. I know that's high-end and G900 is mid-range, but SE had the potential to completely silence the critics with at least 1 of their announcements, but G900 doesn't have HSDPA (which in my opinion should be made available to mid-range phones like 3G by now after 2 odd years of support by mobile networks who have spent millions on this technology only to be ill supported by phone manufacturers and if you think it's too early for that, remember that leaders usually show the way, not follow it which is sadly what SE has come to be of late), X1 is too long a wait, Cybershot designs are clumsy and no xenon flash, etc. No harm giving our favourite brand some tough lovin' IMO.

'tough lovin' is fine!

my point is, no matter what, there will always be something missing from a phone. Some one will 'always' want something extra!
