How come the X1 has a screen resolution of 480x800 pixels, and the Idou only shows 360x640? Shouldn't it have a better screen res or at least equal the X1? As it's a SE 'highest-end' phone, plus it will be released the year after the X1. Am I missing something?

i think Symbian OS doesn't support bigger resolution, al Symbian TS phones have this resolution(N97, Omnia HD, 5800)

Wrong again.

Symbian does support high end resolution - its just that S60 is careful with standardizing on a specific resolution as GIF's for wallpapers in themes scale well but JPG's are mostly used and don't scale well at all.

Look at any other smartphone OS and you'll see the transitions to higher resolutions take more than 2yrs - usually 5 and their VERY VERY careful with new product releases having high demand as they increase the resolution.

A little note about S60's resolution abilities and what Symbian's core contributed to it.

In S60 1st Edition, the devices' display resolution was fixed to 176x208. Since 2nd Edition Feature Pack 3, S60 supports multiple resolutions, i.e. Basic (176x208), and Double (352x416). Nokia N90 was the first S60 device to support a higher resolution (352x416). Some devices, however, have non-standard resolutions, like the Siemens SX1, with 176x220. Nokia 5500 Sport has a 208x208 screen resolution, and the Nokia E90 with its wide 800x352 inner display.

Remember the E90 is based on S60 with Symbian 9.3 at its core.

Symbian Foundation's Symban^2 will begin with Symbian OS 5 modified and upward progressively and quickly. No more legacy support so the OS will be CLEAN!

With S60 5th Edition apps only or also 3.1/3.2? If all then I'm DEFINITELY buying this in October.
