Is Xperia bringing 1" sensor?
I know Nodar is wrong most of the times.
But he said Sony was going to announce sensors of size 1/1.7", 1/1.5" and 1".
1) The imx686 seems to be 1/1.7". Like that 64MP isocell.
2) Someone posted on exmor wiki page imx690. Only info there is 96MP. So I suspect it is 1/1.5" quadbayer.
The sketch posted on reddit. Person says it was done on info given to him.
There is a huge circle there.
Really huge.
Checking the sketch , I have found proportionally that circle would be almost 18mm for a 16.7 cm phone (size of X1).
1" has diagonal of 15,86 mm. Then add OIS.
My phone has 7.87mm sensor. External circle has 8mm.
Opinions please !!!!!

And taking into account that Sony mobile will be merged with Sony electronics and that their sensor business is making a hell of a profit and that OEMs demand for bigger sensors is growing (Like Mi Note 10 sensors and successors), I would say that it is possible to see an 1" (>100MP) sensor sometime next year.
Beside that I can't imagine Sony to lose the sensor battle to Samsung which their quite strong growing isocell sensors. Especially knowing how bad Sony mobile is doing and the only 2 money making Sony departments are PlayStation and mobile Imaging sensors.

Rear panel is way worse than pixel 4 or iphone 11 max.

Considering that very high resolution is worse for videos.
More rulling shutter, slower data readout etc ....
I think 96 will be ceiling made by Sony.

The comment means they will lead smartphone's photography into another level by building advanced CMOS.
And it will be used by Samsung or huawei or Apple .
As for SOMC?

Stacked cmos made its way to mobile before full frame.
RX100 will be dead in few years.
They can keep part of this money by selling more phones.
Better letting cybershot be killed by xperia, than other phones.
People used to have ipods, now they use iphone for that....

Correct, but Sony needs smartphone to control the entrance of every electronic devices.They've told us too many times.
They keep it but won't give it too much support.
Typical cost down company, typical Wall Street style.
Actually, if u want to order a custom CMOS which advancer than anyone, u need to sell at about 20million units at least, understand?
Huawei--apple--samsung
Only them could do it.
In fact, Huawei is the only alpha class client
Nobody can compete with it even Samsung or Apple.
