@cheese - Yeah . . . I know that you people in India are the #1 guys - NOW in the IT field . . . used to be Filipinos back then, but you guys have OVERTAKEN now . . . Just want to share a short-story with you guys here . . . I have an UNCLE who used to work with SAFEWAY, USA (based in CA) for roughly 6 six years already before he resigned about 3 mos. ago . . . when he was recruited then he just hold a DIRECTOR-position in the IT Dept (Safeway) . . . then he introduced a new system/idea in the company wherein they can SAVE merely MILLIONS in US $$$$
HE opened up a call center here in Manila (Safeway-Philtek), and some of the depts. in their US based-office were closed (resulting to downsizing) and opened the said depts in their office here in Manila, wage hike-salary here is CHEAP like in China. Their office here is more of a CALL CENTER. With that IDEA his company-position was CATAPULTED to a VP one . . . he was very PROUD of that as he told us in the company's ENTIRE hierarchy, there were ONLY two ASIANS who made it on TOP, him and his immediate superior who is a - TAIWANESE . . . he told me that his BOSS at one time was given a US$ 1 Million in company BONUS
He was also bein' offered by one of a Filipino-tabloid based in California to feature his SUCCESS story in their pages . . . but he DECLINED.
My Uncle really liked the JOB he HAD here then, he was like an EXPAT . . . though will only stay here for 2-weeks (in the country's TOP 5-star hotel, with LIMO -service from and going to the airport etc. etc.). The last We've heard was that he was already RAKING US$ 35-40K/month salary . . . PLUS at one time he told us that he SOLD 200,000/shares of stocks (part of his incentives with the company) @ US$4.00/share
But what he really liked is when he will be positioned here in Manila (his home sweet home) . . . then they had a re-shuffling of positions in the company, he was placed in their Head Office and never returned back here . . . then a a GOOD offer came his way . . . it was an INDIAN company (will ask him of the name next time we meet) . . . similar to the kind of JOB he had with Safeway though, but he was assured that he will be put at he HELM when their office opens here (Manila), they are already in the process of BUILDING their company here . . . started last quarter of 2006.
I will just UPDATE you guys as to the name of the Indian company . . . as we (his relatives) here are kinda worried why would he be taking that OFFER, considering that Safeway is already INCLUDED in Forbes TOP 100 corporations in the US of A
. . . but we know that the OFFER is really tempting, much much more than what he was GETTING with Safeway my Uncle told my Mom
