These are all software that can be used to download data shared by other people around the world, the "peers" so to say. The data download is free, and includes content like music, movie, software etc. This is peer to peer software. It is controversial though, since it may spread questionable content as well as infringe copyrights. Now stop bugging the poor guy

hehe its ok .. the more i explain to her the more ill learn myself and yes charu whtever he said is true .. it might and it is used for distributing copyrighted stuff but since there is no central mechanism , its hard to stop ppl from doing it...
plus all the previous file sharing works offline .. meaning tht u have to download the entire pieces to view it ... whereas the project im working on works for live contents as well .. ppl can share live streaming (e.g. a world cup match) among others and it will be faster , smoother
