. . . just for a bit of balance to my previous post, some of the features of the tytn's camera are amazing, the macro in particular:

leaf

rowanberrys - very small!

Regarding the screen quality on the p990i, its nice theres no doubt about it but ive noticed its terrible in the sunlight or when your in a bright area...can hardly make out what the screen says. Seems like SE only put in brightness controls but no contrast controls etc.

Anyone else notice this??

Yes - was the same on the M600i too.

Cheers Sleepy, i was beginning to think i had a dodgy screen lol

Sorry to read that you've got this problem. As one or two posters have already said this is a problem thats been highlighted by a few owners over at XDA-Dev's although it doesn't appear to be as common as the screen alignment or keybaord problems.

Its very probable that owners of fully functioning (i.e. non-faulty) TyTn's are a silent majority but even so, I'm quite surprised at the number of people who are having problems with this phone - it does make you question HTC's quality control systems.

Get on to Orange and get a replacement ASAP, once you get one that's working 100% I'm sure you'll be more than pleased with it.

I have no keyboard or backlight issue, but i'm getting increasingly annoyed at how many times the tytn is locking up and needing to be reset. especially common when using camera and if I try to take more than 1 2M photos the camera app crashes and a reset needed. if my tytn is idle for a couple of hours I often find it has frozen and needs a restart. serial no is 632!¿

Just had a good play with the Phone App and took about ten 2M photos in succession as well as a few images using different camera modes (such as the Panorama mode with a Zoom) which I saved to the microSD card and had no problem with the camera locking up or crashing.

Does it crash straight after the phone has been soft re-set or only when you've had lots of other programs open?

The only problem that really gets me is the occasional issue where the phone doesn't seem to go into sleep mode after the specified period of inactivity has elapsed. I also find that sometimes that the phone while going to sleep will not activate the PDA lock feature when its switched back on (even though it has been set to do so). I must stress these symptoms happen quite rarely but its still a bit annoying when it happens.

Is the stylus of the HTC Tytn similar to the stylus of the Qtek 9100 (can't quite remember the HTC name ...)?
