On another note...
I noticed many people complaining about wireless lan not working... I can confirm that this is the case with my phone too...
Yes... I know that you have to go through that accout creation cr*p or else it wont work but I still cant get it to work.
Also tried backup, master reset, and flash... no joy.
This firmware is not the perfect fix everybody has hoped for. And I am not holding my breath that the next one will be either. This phone is flawed... And after 5 years away from Nokia without any regrets the P990i may be the device that pushes me away.
Come on SE get your act together... If any employees of SE read this forum, do yourselves and your bosses a favour... make them aware of the situation with this "incomplete" handset. Get every analyst, programmer and employee on the case or else the next generation phones won't have any customers to purchase them! I certainly won't be a an SE customer for long. The next FW is the last chance. Then I will be selling on ebay and getting a "real" business phone... LIKE A BLACKBERRY. Get it?

I performed a master reset and tried to reproduce the video bug without success.
I then run restore to get my data back after which I tried to reproduce the video-bug... still no success.
I then installed the vista theme, applied it and guess what... the bug re-appeared!
this is how I get the bug to go away... I restart the phone when it's frozen. then go back to media player, and play a video. I then gently turn the jog dial while the video is playing (not in full screen) before switching to full screen. Thereafter, I can increase or decrease the volume (in full screen mode )without causing the phone to freeze.

This is my 2 cents....
The latest M600i firmware now seems to be very stable, and extreamly functional, with 20+mb on booting.
The P990i firmware, is now finally coming together, dont get me wrong, i am still getting the random resets, and error messages about not enough memory to show data on screen...however it is faster and has better RAM managment...i think THIS is the firmware that the p990i should have shipped with...the phone is now functional, it needs at least 1 more firmware update, to tidy up the loose ends...if this was the firmware that was shipped with the phone, customers would be more forgiving, people expecting the new firmware to cure ALL problems, is never going to happen (and thus hasnt happened)...but its a giant leap in the right direction.
P.S. I have a feeling that another firmware will be released in the next few weeks, it just seems that this firmware may have been released to keep customer busy for a while until the next big firmware is out...my reasons for this is because the release date was on such a random date, 1st Jan!..all reports where looking at middle of Jan or early Feb, when has SE ever been on time with releasing something, let alone release it early!!!

@gabster, i agree with you...because this firmware was already finished for some time, is actually almost the same that guy here at esato had in the end of November. I guess a new one should folow soon
@fixfox, you should´t do a restore after master reset/format internal drive - that way you will get the corrupt data again! You should have made a manual backup
I tried it again at lunch: i can change volume with video playing in fullscreen withou any hang or crashes

Anyone noticed a problem with swissmanager pro and the new p990 update? The program is being forced to shut down and thats causing a phone error.
Whenever I lauch it, the phone closes it after a certain time.
Any idea what's going on?

Sorry, but it seems the problem is YOURS, most people are well pleased with the new firmware, even people that had alot of complaints before...go ask for replacement for your unit, because wifi works on mine flawslessly since September, and so does for most users

Update went ahead fine.
BUT, when trying to restore stuff, 3rd party applications mostly fail and it is mentioned in the report.
but doesnt matter what i do, it will NOT restore messaging! the whole backup fails if i tick "unified inbox"
i have 7 POP3 email accounts on my P990, (dont ask why)
and now it seems i have to manually recreate all of them???
anyone here has same problem/solution???

Why do you have 7 Pop3 email accounts?
well, lets see:
1 is my Gmail
1 is my work email (Carphone warehouse)
1 is my O2 email cuz many people still know me by that
1 is my secret email (to flirt without my gf noticing) LOL
1 is my GF's email that i have hacked into so i can see who she is dealing with
1 is my own website's POP3 email (YZphotos.co.uk)
thats 6.... and last one is the Synchronized email! LOL
