Using opera 8 is slightly slower but using opera mini, the page load up so fast. With the picture not displayed, it's almost as fast as my core duo laptop, almost!

I like the pictures though, the full web experience. Loading something like a newspaper site takes AGES. On my N80 and N73 it was very quick indeed. What can be done about the speed on Opera 8?

I am so disopointed over the speed on internet with my P1, Opera sucks and opera mini is not what i want, opera on my old P900 works better...
A question. Why is wifi closing down all the time? A bug or something i missed?

Go to internet settings select your WIFI account select more then turn off power save. Work on mine, you can give it a try

Another thing about WIFI...

When you see the available network you can connect to it from the wifi menu. But when launching opera after connecting there you have to connect again and can only specify a group account.

Is it really like that? I mean, I find it sucky that I have to assign a wifi network to a group account first and then being able to use it. Would be so much handier if simply connecting with it was sufficient. I mean, the connection is there, ready to be used...

Is there anything I'm missing?

So I'm confused by the fact that you have

1. The WLAN networks availble in the WLAN menu to which you can connect
2. The Accounts in Internet Accounts menu containing the different accounts for the networks
3. The Groups in the Internet Accounts menu to which you have to assign the Account before you can actually use it in for example opera.

Just feels like it could be a lot more efficient... (Hope it's a bit clear )

Possible issue on Music Player: I am hoping someone can confirm this?
I listen to long mp3 files on my P1i (each > 60 mins). when playing through a file, I have found that if I try to scroll forward in the file then it stops and starts the next track. Sometimes scrolling to a point near the start works, but anywhere beyond about 20mins always fails.

Anyone else able to test this?

Actually, now that you mention this I noticed this as well with my previous firmware (R6D23?), scrolling 'resetted' the song. But now, after updating to R6E30, it DOES work... so an actual fix in the firmware

huh?

i've connected to about 20 various wifi networks in about 5 weeks...

the process is open the wlan app
enable wlan
scan
connect
enter password if required
you'll get a connecting screen
it'll say connected
then go to the browser of your choice and surf..

all the internet group stuff should be done in the background automatically and you shouldn't have to reconfirm or connect anywhere else..

Yeah, well... Doesn't work like that for me hehe. Even when I connect through the WLAN menu I get again a connection dialog in the browser... Perhaps it's an opera4 beta issue, will try again with the defaultr browser.

I'll give it another try later tonight... no WIFI available here atm.

opera mini beta has a java script symbian error sometimes... do you get an error popup screen?

if so startup the normal browser and then go back to opera mini and it should work

I am experiencing various problems with my P1i:

- When writing SMS's, the phone over-stipulates required number of sms's for a long message. E.g. 450 characters shows as 7 sms's - what's up? Is it really sending that much overhead? I thought an SMS is 160 chars each?

- When writing SMS's in flight mode, the phone first shows an error message that the SMS could not be sent (off course, it is in flight mode!!). Thereafter it does _not_ send the SMS when it finally is out of flight mode - how convenient... Argh!

- And, by the way, when WLAN is enabled but no network in reach, the phone does not try other connections like GPRS. Ie. I must switch off WLAN to make an internet connection when out of reach of a WLAN. Splended!

- When I take an image, and select "send as MMS" - why the heck doesn't the phone re-size the image to an MMS compatible size? Who wants to send a 3Mpix image as MMS? Who CAN send a 3Mpix image as MMS? I have found no way of doing this conveniently. It is second nature on the smaller SE handsets :-/

For the sms, it is discussed in page 18 of this thread

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=151888&start=255

basically, that is not a bug. It's a special character that you might have included in your msg, for example, by pressing 'k' 3 times, you will have a character similar to k, but it is a special character. And when you have that in your message, each message is only 70 letters long.
