Money would have told Sony to sell Mobile already.
Still have not....
Stacked cmos made its way to mobile before full frame.

RX100 will be dead in few years.
They can keep part of this money by selling more phones.
Better letting cybershot be killed by xperia, than other phones.

People used to have ipods, now they use iphone for that....

And sadly , SOMC is the last level
Sony can never raise agian in smartphone.
Japanese IT SUCKS.

Of course, they make no effort to let people know xperia exist.
I live in a city with about 135.000 citizens.
I had to buy mine on internet, there was one unit of the model I wanted.
And it was exhibition device.

I can go to any department store and probably will barely see any bravia. If I found one, must be model from previous generations. Samsung and LG tvs are all over the place.
I can only find Alpha on internet. Not even at Carrefour in our state capital.

In LATAM, most still buy cellphones at stores.
Selling online only is suicide.

Except sensors, all their sales are dropping.

@unfadedghost why is Sony still trying to build a flagship then? Why even bother playing with 6 cameras when you know you're cost cutting and won't sell? They are like trying to frustrate fans so they stop buying instead of killing the division themselves. Sony forgets they are competing in Android world where specs matter the most. Why not just make a generic flagship like Poco and sell it for $400 if staying in the bussiness just for the sake of it is their only goal?

All things considered SM engineers are doing one hell of a great job building these devices around so many cost constraints.

I went to see if Ricciolo has posted anything interesting lately.
Nothing about Sony.
He says the 108MP isocell will disappoint people.
He says u12+ can easily beat that cam.

Bonus: if you search on reddit for burn-in xperia, nothing shows up.

Same mistake they did with XZ2-3. 10mm and 4000 mah, while others go beyond that in and under 8mm. With 5G, if you get as much life as X1, you'd consider yourself lucky. It also kind of defeats the narrow build's purpose of easy one handed operation (thicker devices are harder to handle)

So is there any news about the Sony Light project? If unfadedghost is right, do you think it's possible we'll see the project's first products on a Huawei rather than Sony?

We dont know if the 9,8 mm counts camera ring or if they want to have no bulge.
Compacts were chubby, people loved them anyway.
Xz2 was big belly, but about 6mm near edges.

I do not think any company will use the same aproach of HMD.
I think all other will stick to wide, ultra wide, zoom and tof.
Possibility of second zoom. Having 2x for portrait + 5x periscope.

Except s10 5G (because bigger screen ), other 5G have same battery of 4G variants.
Samsung, Huawei and One+.

Then it means you likely going to produce exploding phones ?

10mm is too much for just 4000mah, there's no way around it. S10+ has 4100 and it's 7.8mm so far no explosions. That's all I am saying. If your device has a similar mah, should also have similar thickness. No matter the height and width, thinner devices are easier to handle.

Hawk I don't mean the camera setup. The Light partnership is with imaging division right? I was expecting these solutions to show up on Xperia first with aube and all, but given sm's financial situation it may not be viable for them to use on their own devices.

Let's suppose we have here 3 batteries.
Sony, LG and Samsung.
All them have 3500mAh.
Same capacity does not mean same size or volume.

We cant compare phones because we dont know all they have inside.
Dont forget x1 is 7,2 cm wide only.

There was explosion case of s105G.
I've read about 1 xperia only in all these years, T series.

X1 overall volume is larger than s10+. Sony's mah may not be as big per volume but this also means they are cheaping out.

If it's a flat 10mm that's way too much without any benefits. Could be wireless charging, all other Sony's that had it also were thick. Big phones shouldn't exceed 8.5mm. I hope ambient flop is not returning.
