sorry guys but even with the update this handset is just crap. No discernable improvement in the camera performance, and constant reboots (one of the reasons for ditching the Note 3) and a very real problem that is being experienced by lots of other people apparently. Check the Sony forums.

Is this the best of Sony for the best of me ? I hope not. considering that Sony market this as the best Android cameraphone, they have a lot of work to do ..........I can see my local CEX getting a visit very shortly at this rate.

Anybody up for an trade

Good night

I see a pattern - you might want to check some of the software you are installing, I certaintly don't have any of the issues you describe

As I said, check the Sony forums for the reboot issue. Maybe ive been spoilt be having the Lumia 1020 also, but the camera is woeful. The excuses ive seen about trees being blurry on photos because its "windy" are just that......excuses.

You don't see a pattern at all. I have the same apps on my 1020 as I do on my XZ1 (apart from Sky Go, due to availability).......no reboots happening on that........oh and the camera is fantastic.

Please don't think im looking for a argument. Im just voicing my experiences and opinion the same as everybody else.

Not had any of them problems you've had lemmy mate. Strange. Nokia isn't a stranger to bugs or reboots. The Lumia 920 was worst for that. As for windy days with blurry trees that does happen but not always.

i haven't had any issues either. I had one random restart way in the beginning on the initial firmware, but never again. I've had flawless operation. Camera could improve but it's quite good I think. I just don't take as much time as I should to play with it.

It's a shame to hear you're having so many issues. BUt with any device there will be a small percentage that will have issues. It's easy to say that it's a "common" issue because when you search it comes up on the forums and seems like it's a huge thing. But that's cause the only people who have problems report it, while the ones who don't .. well, don't.

have you tried a factory reset, updating to the newest firmware and giving that a go? And, i dunno if you're on branded software or not, but if you are, perhaps try an unbranded one.

as far as camera, i don't think you can really compare. You have the Z1 in a slim case and 1/2.3" sensor and the 1020 with a bump and a much larger sensor (dunno the size off hand). 1020 also has much more control over the camera in manual mode and 41mp oversampling down to 5mp. it clearly has the advantage in just about every way. the Z1 can produce results in its best conditions that can give the 1020's average photos a run for its money. But given the best from both, the Z1 simply can't beat the 1020. and that's just science.

for what it's worth, Sony says it's the best android camera phone, and from what i've seen, it surely is. maybe you're right. perhaps you are spoiled with your 1020.

Anyway, give those suggestions a try if you haven't already and hopefully it'll fix your issues for you. Good luck!

I often have found after updating a factory reset solves many issues. Mine has never once rebooted and am having no issues which is amazing for me

I don't have any problem as well. I'm thinking to use this phone for a very long time. I've tried with QX100 lens. That lens is sharp.

+1

Also gets rid of some junk leftovers from the previous firmware and sometimes even lag. Only downside is gotta have to reinstall some apps, but it's not really a problem.

@lemmy31

I'm sorry to hear things aren't working out for you, but the major camera update is still rumored to be by the end of January, just don't expect too high imaging standards, it may or may not equal 1020, only way to find out will be to wait for it if you'll give it a chance.
