yup i agree..marlonski's picture effect was nice.it ws like in the movie "pleasenville" staring tobey maguire.
@marlon,can u tell me which software u use to change the pics to b&w and also have those selected area photo effect?i hate the one from google.

I'm using 'microsoft picture it photo standard' nothing special mate. I use a freehand tool to select the area I wish to keep coloured. Select invert which then allows me to work on the outside of the item selected then apply whatever effect I want, be it b&w, a blured focusing effect and so on
Here's an example, I happen to like the original but for a bit of fun i have used the above technique, converted to black and white then added a little blue to the picture....

converted leaving a little blue in the cloud for highlighting later
I added a blue tint to the whole of picture which then picks out the blue I left in it

@tranced - your picture was very good and to be honest didn't really need any 'fx' however I did have a little play
I did this one earlier on this week after you uploaded it.

The cloud was superb in this, but too busy for me to mess with using my current software

This one has had the colour, brightness and contrast altered a little...
B&W also contrast & brightness altered a little
The bush in the centre of the picture was kept and colour altered a little, the rest changed to b&w the a blue tint added
