I'm been following this thread I believe Max is right from the first post. I am not expert on touch screens and I don't think Max is one either but for at least 10 years I've read or heard about multitud of different touch technologies some maybe don't exist any more.

But surely I read some where about accoustic pulse sensitive screens I though it was for some high end technology aparatus but now that Max mentioned it I realized we have it in our hand without even knowing. Others that come to head now seems may not be a reality yet like: Resistive, I think this the one that needs preassure, Capacitive I believe this is the one iPhone uses, Infrared, optical, reflexive...

I suggest you read through the thread again, including the link I posted to an article on the subject - in short, surface acoustic screens are not used in phones or PDAs and never have been. All these screens, bar the Iphone/Ipod Touch use resistive screens, made up of layers of glass and plastic (usually with a top layer of plastic) which allow for some flex and movement however small. These screens are all "soft", in that they all have to be sensitive to physical pressure on the screen - that's how resistive screens work. Only the Iphone/Ipod Touch uses a capacitive screen, which requires no movement and is made of solid optical glass.

Sorry to be labouring this point, but this is a simple fact - whether you can see the movement or not, and however tough the screen might be, a resistive screen is - by definition - softer and more flexible than any other type of screen. It has to be.

I have written a short overview on the X1 screens (via screenshots) and posted some videos of different apps in action. You can find them here:

For the non-German-speaking folks: just follow the links

PS: All this is based on a pre-production unit.

Am I being overly paranoid about the issue with the battery cover?
Even on this clip you can see two patterned stickers along the seam of the cover, I know he seems to be a fashion geek, but putting stickers on your Phone hmmm, Or is it primarily functional for another reason ...hint ?
@WHERES MY !@#^& XPERIA BATTERY COVER!!! phew found it ...wheres that sticky tape that will blend with my elegant X1?

I rang up today as I'm due an upgrade this month. The lady on the other end just told me that they were awaiting confirmation from....somebody, they didn't give me a date. Considering O2 germany have already confirmed, I think its only a matter of time for the UK.

Sounds like a Swedish voice to me. With the strange choices of words and different things I'm sure the whole thing was done in Sweden.

Realistic concerns? well I see this as a realistic concern

as for camera quality
It will be the same crap as all camera phones, The key element in any camera is the lens and most camera phones lens's are dog pooh if you want a camera buy a camera not a phone!

I'm not saying your concern itself isn't serious, just that the likelyhood that the X1 won't support HWR is EXTREMELY LOW, and for now, until anyone says any different, you should consider that it does support HWR and double check when it comes out before buying it to be sure. You can then concentrate on finding answers to questions that are more unclear.

Look, the fact is EVERY SINGLE WM PHONE to-date supports HWR, so you simply can't rely on the fact some dodgy marketing website didn't mention HWR as evidence that X1 may not support HWR (when every other WM phone does).

Of course it will support HWR. you can gloat on the "I'm not as smart as a 5th grader" thread if I'm wrong

btw, about camera lenses, I agree partially however you can't really separate lenses and sensors. If either is poor the other makes little difference.
