@Eammon

Fly business or First and you won't have the problem of squashed seats.

I'm not sure how much baggage BA allow, but I reguarly take enough luggage for a family of four onto BA fligts and I never have a problem.

Scotsboyuk: Well if I could afford to dish out an extra 1000-200- quid for a business or first class seat I would do mate!

For flights outside the UK I think BA allow 23kg in econonomy, and probably a f*ck loads more in business and first!

I often don't bother packing, I just take my wardrobe with me.

Airlines are a tricky bunch and unfortunately if you're travelling internationally its horrible to get one you don't like because you can't exactly ask them to pull over and you'll catch a lift with someone else.

Of the airlines i've flown I have to say i've loved BA, the service has been great, they don't charge for every little thing under the sun, they were mostly on time (cept for one flight, and here i'd have to agree with Massuer that they didn't do fantastic job of informing the passengers) but otherwise they're still the preffered choice of thsoe that I have flown.

AirNZ was abysmal, i'll vow never to fly them again if I can help it.

The canadian airline I flew shutdown, which was a pity because they weren't bad at all. lol

I've only flown I think American Airlines wihtin the US, they didn't seem too bad, not hot but not bad so nothing to complain about there either.

Would like to fly Qantas or Singapore airlines as have yet to hear anything bad about them to be honest. (Wonder if I can do Qantas to Canada next year)

Hehe.

Well, to be frank, the best airline I have ever flown on has to be Aerolinias Argentinas. I know, weird, but they seemed really friendly, and when my little brother was sick they gave him all sorts of attention, like lollies (thats candy for all you northern hemispherians), they even made him some eucalyptus tea etc to try and clear his nose. I was really surprised. And there was also an argument over seating arrangements that they sorted out really nicely, just top service in general. I flew them from Argentina to Aus to NZ and back again twice a year for about 3 years, and never ONCE did I have a complaint.

Singapore airlines is really good too, but I got really weird looks when I chewed gum (to help pop my ears) on board. It was really bad, I felt extremely embarrassed. (Gum chewing was illegal in singapore back then... Is it still?)

Malaysian airlines was surprisingly good, just good service in general. I have to say the plane was quite noisy, but they offered earmuffs (not just the crappy plugs either, actual muffs).

Qantas comes a close second to Aerolinias. They've got the friendly laid back aussie attitude, but still manage to provide an exceptionally proffessional attitude. Oh and the stewardesses seem to be the best looking too .

Air New Zealand, though not exactly widespread, is definitely close behind Qantas. For the same reasons, except NZ's stewardesses are even better looking .

Now to BA. Not very happy. I hate how the stewards (im not into men ) talk ALL the time to the other stewards, and not about anything that is ata ll relevant. They might be talking about what they did last week, or how crappy their jobs are etc. And they don' devote any of that attention to you!

Well, thats my experience. Keep in mind that my experience with the Argentine airline was before the economy collapsed.

Flew on BA once, the meal made me sick, ruined my holiday. I personally would never fly with them again.

Aren't some airlines considering weighing some passengers now if their luggage has gone over the limit, if the passenger weighs less than expected they can cancel some of the excess weight of the luggage?

Haha! How bad would you feel if they said, "Im sorry sir, but you are going to have to stow that luggage below, its too heavy" And you're not carrying any !

Nick

Edit: I forgot to include KLM! I liked their service too! Nothing I could fault them with, but I flew economy class with them, and it wasn't quite business class of the others... But I've flown economy on those too, and KLM's economy was a tad more cramped, but nothing that noticeable. Maybe I just grew before flying with them .

As the advert says of BA, "The world's favourite airline".

I'm really surprised that so many of you have had such bad experiences with BA, I really can't give them anything, but the highest of praise.
