what is wrong with buying a normal sock and using it ?

Will still get scratched, if anything moving comes into contact with the chrome... thats why the iSheild (the clear skin i've been talking about) is a must.

I've prob had about 25/30 fones, but only really stuck to a 6310i tbh... rest lasted a few months... 6310i lasted about 3 years now... (3rd p910i coming 2moro Change fones through boredom

Change iPods through reason...

1) not to make a loss ( i buy from america, then sell in uk to make sure i break even after a few months use)

2) tend to buy a new one as soon as a newer version is available.

3) Don't keep for over 6 months incase it develops problems... bad abatteries etc.

How many ipods everyone else had?

The iPod 5th gen is my third.

Anyway, just a word of warning if you intend to use the case/sleeve that comes with the new iPod. It's an extremely tight fit, so if you have any specks of dust/dirt on the iPod and then slide on the cover, I suspect you'll end up with scratching.

hmm.... best thing i can think of is...

Getting the iShield.... then putting it in a sock...

I really don't like ANY cases on the market... spoils the look.

Yeah i loved the buttons on the 3rd gen... very nice! When i get my car, i'll have a 3rd gen hooked up to the sound system, so easy to use the buttons on the 3rd, especially when it's docked.
