several years ago, SE would produce a new cellphone long after the previous one, but now they're producing so many models one after the other.. just like what nokia is doing.. i hope doing so doesn't mean the quality would have to suffer.. but so far, i am happy with their new models! but they're becoming like nokia that the other model would differ so little in specifications with the other.. hmmmm..

Most phones are due in Q2, so I bet we'll see a few complaints when a load of them arrive within a few weeks of each other! ("Too many phones to choose from; what do I buy?").

The N80 does look cool, but the 6280 camera is crap and the N70 isn't amazing. Do I have faith in the 3 megapixel sensor on the N80? Well, it's a case of wait and see - but the pictures I got on the K800 were amazing and so it doesn't necessarily matter either way.

The W950i in Q3 is the biggest disappointment. I think it will be looking rather dated by then, assuming we see loads of new music devices announced at CeBIT and Apple/Creative/Samsung etc launch new flash based players at low cost in the future. That said, it will still be good in its own right.

yes but the phones with 3.2MB are dedicated camera phones with very few of the features you'd expect in a smartphone like the P990. The P990 isn't a "camera phone" so it's not so critical that it compete with the latest MP available. The P990 will have more than enough appeal with a 2MP camera for most business/smartphone users.

I agree. One thing that I think is a bit of a turn-off with the new 3.2MP cam-phones is that SE didn't improve the video recording capabilities. The P990 can take QVGA video at 30fps. Besides 2MP is quite enough for a decent picture.

It is indeed a shame that a 240x320 screen phone like the K800 doesn't have QVGA video. that's depressing.

I hope SE keep the quality as much as the quantity. When see a coming soon phone. I check the specs to see the latest improvements and advancements made. Allthough most of the time there not impressive, except: a2dp,3.2mp,4gb internal memory.

im starting to think that they will scrap the p990...cause if it only hits the market around the fall this year, then it will be very outdated.

They won't scrap the P990, its in accordance with its 2 press releases as far as release times go. should never have announced it early like everyone usually wants, cos now all I see is "it's never coming out"

Maybe have the intention of launching a new line of phones called the "videophones" dedicated towards video recording, with the Handycam logo on it and maybe have video record quality of 60fps.

As regards the long wait for the P990, remember that this phone is supposed to replace the P910, and is aimed at the current P910 users who already have tons of useful applications for their P910. The P990 runs on a different software platform, and so previous P910 applications have to be redesigned or modified to run on the new UIQ3 platform of the P990.
My guess is that this is where the delay is coming from. Because it would be foolhardy to buy a smartphone and not have the applications to use it with.
