Agree.
If they wanted more marketshare, they could have release w800 in a different colour in a basic package with 256 Megs, or no MemStick at all to lower the price, and to sell more.
Simply dunno why they should fabricate another name.

I'm a bit dissapointed by this release. I payed a good deal of money to have a good phone that not everyone has. Now SE brings out a phone that has exactly the same looks. (I know the colours are different) So soon a lot of people will have this phone and te W800i will no longer have that exclusive look.

This move is worse than the nokia's changing model numbers.
It would have been much better if it would have been a limited edition.
And the phone would look more lovely in a shiny coat of deep burgundy color.

the phone is not aimed at besting the K750 or W800. Both those phones are pegged higher than the W700. The W700 was not rleased as an upgrade to the W800, but as a downgrade. They probably did this in direct response to market forces. ie: the public asked for this phone so SE provided it. As far as I can see they are simply responding to the market.
I can't see what people are so unhappy about. There is the W810, the K790, K800, W900 all with as good or better specs than the K750 and W800.
BTW, the W700 Sony Ericsson website shows a W800 (or atleast an orange and white W700) alongside the gold W700? Does that mean the W700 will come out in two colour schemes, one being the same as the W800, or is it just slack website design reusing old photos?
It also claims the W700 supports 4GB, so that confirms 4GB support for W800 and K750 also.
