Sony Ericsson gets Armed

Sony Ericsson went mad last week, releasing four new mobile phones onto an unsuspecting market. One of the most interesting was the Sony Ericsson W710i sports phone, which has been designed for the more active user. As part of this emphasis on sport, the W710i comes with an arm band, letting you wear your mobile phone on your arm as you jog. With your phone suitably, er, armed [ahem!], you can use the W710i's nifty sports features, such as its pedometer and running speed measurement tool.

Looking at this picture of the W710i's arm band, though, I'm not so sure it's as practical as it sounds. Aside from the fact it looks like a gadget-laden growth emerging from an arm, it also seems to scream "steal me now"!

Looks pretty neat to me. Almost enough for me to take up jogging NOT!

the w710.....what a waste of time lol

for christ sake why would you buy a w710 rather than a w800? they will be priced almost the same as the w800 has been out for so long

You have to remember that sells in the USA, too, and we're strange buggers when it comes to a number of products, including mobile phones If both were released in the USA today, the W710 would trounce the W800 for a number of reasons:

Cingular, our largest GSM provider, relies heavily on the 850 MHz band, which the W710 includes and the W800 lacks.
Our highest-speed mobile Internet is EDGE (aka \"2.5G\"), which again the W710 includes and the W800 lacks.
We love clamshells (I thought I did, but my RAZR V3i and nostalgia for my T616 taught me otherwise.)
Other reasons that haven't yet come to mind.

Anyway, be glad you don't have HAC rules, which have forced to instead give us the W712!

That antenna is just I'll have to find an importer to get a W710 - my wife would love a Hatha Violet model

Remember one important thing: W710 DOES NOT HAVE 3D ACCELERATOR.

I find it funny they even bothered to create such a design for the armband. You would be caught dead running around with that huge thing attached to your arm, let alone feel comfortable with that thing on. And wouldnt there be a possibility of the phone flying out? Along with the drag headphones might have you now have your own self tripping/tangle tool haha.
