Mine died this way too.
One night I had a white screen on and off for 10 mins, but it seemed to fix itself.
When I woke up the next day the phone's only use is as a paperweight

mine died also. about 5-6 weeks back now. the service centre wont fix it because its not a UK spec handset and standing me at just under £300 it became a very expensive paper weight.... its been sent back to where it was brought from now. i am just praying it can be replaced!
i think i'd still buy another though because when they are working they're fantastic!

well the problem with my K800 was the change sim bug. Few mins before it died i had changed my sim card.
Anyway, i went to a SE service point where they upgraded the firmware and my phone is alive again. Unfortunately i lost everything (contacts, photos, etc).

Welcome to the K800 beta tester community. Sad but true. You would think, that someone other at SE than the mailroom would test the phone.

I've had mine back from vodafone.
All they did was 'install new software'.

My K800i died about 30 mins ago as well. Same symptoms.
I had my phone charging overnight, woke up this morning and it said 'Fully Charged'. So i pulled it out, turned on the phone and typed in my PIN.
The phone loaded to the standby screen, then when i pressed the shortcut button the phone froze and the screen turned white. I pulled out the battery, put it back in and now when i press the power button i get that blinking red LED in the infra-red as everyone is getting.
What the hell is up with Sony Ericsson???!!!
