Hi, I've had a SE K800i for about 6 months now, few weeks ago it startedt the good old white screen of death, although would normally fix itself! Last week it white screened and wouldn't restart, I resigned myself to the fact it was dead, took out my sim and merrily started using my old K750i again... A day later the K800i was awake and working again...

BUT... it died again a few hours ago, restarts fine, but the menu seem to be too far up (i.e. is off the screen), the only options I have are 'select' and 'info' displayed at the top of the screen... if i click 'select' (I think I'm answering that I want to start in normal mode, but can't see the option) I can type my pin, the 'select' button at the top then changes to 'ok' and the phone lets me in... only problem is... I have no menus, can't call etc. etc.

Any ideas, or have I got the ordeal of O2 returns to go though

Ta, Ben.

Mine and my friend K800i are dead too. Mine was freeze when playing games, and I turn it off, and never come back on, and the IR flashing when I try to turn on. And mine friend K800i dead when he want to switch SIM card, and never back on. Same flashing IR. My friend send his phone over to SE service center in USA, and they said they cannot fix it, they offer a replacement but not gonna be the same model, too bad my friend didn't check his email, so SE send his phone back without replacement. And my phone, I did dismatle the whole phone, I disconnect everything that can be disconnect from the main board for an hour or so, and put back together, and still wont power up, and the IR still flashing when I try to turn on. So.. I just gonna keep my phone until SE do something.

Old EROM again?...but how come? Mine works just all right despite my old R13A011..I plug/ unplug charger, change SIM, run out battery, plug/unplug USB data cable, and NOT EVEN a WSOD..thanks God then. Yes, SESC or Wotan Server is the way out.

Aremaboy and me most one of the few. I've had my silver k800
since O2 UK released it and it's not missed a beat at all. No
freezes, no WSOD, no dropped calls - nothing !!!

I have to admit to wotaning it from the O2 original as soon as I
could - maybe that's what saved it !!!

Sorry to bump this thread from the dead, but I figured it's better to bump it than to start a whole new thread.

During a road trip, I turned my phone off to charge it. After fully charging it with a car charger, I turned the phone on only to discover what I now know as the White Screen of Death.

While the phone made its efforts to startup, the switch-over between the white and black screen continued. I was annoyed by this so I popped the battery out. Put it back in and the WSoD is still there. I repeated this step numerous times before it actually shut down on it. The only sign of its life was the red infrared light.

After searching around this forum and the net to find a solution to the problem, I gave up and sent the phone in for a 'grey-market' or 'out of warranty' claim. I was given a RMA number and along with a $100 inspection and repair fee + shipping one way, SE of USA was able to resolve the issue by upgrading the software. I was without the phone for 4 weeks. I paid $350 10 months ago and with the additional $120 (including shipping), my k800i is now a $470 USD phone. Yay. I usually upgrade phones annually, but I guess I'll keep this one a year longer...if it lasts.

The phone has been good so far (3 weeks since the repair) and I hope it to last. If anybody finds a way to prevent the WSoD, please advise!

What's your EROM and CID?

I've heard that older EROMs are prone to the WSoD. Mine's a R3A022, and I haven't had that problem yet *TOUCH WOOD!*, and I've been turning it off and on heaps recently, cuz I've been diving deep into my K800i's file system lol.

Well what do you know! I was hoping to never visit this thread again, but I'm disappointed to say it came so soon. At least it's not completely dead this time. I bought a credit on wotanserver.com as few have advised to do. However, wotanserver is constantly 'waiting.......' for my phone to connect. I've tried 'C' and holding '2,5' prior to plugging in the USB cord. Nothing. My computer says they spotted a new USB connection and wants me to go through the wizard to install its drivers so I'm assuming that there is connection between my phone and the computer. Making a visit to the apple store today... :sigh:
