the joystick is the trade mark i think people hate it for 2 weeks then cant use a Dpad after lol i hated the T68i for about a week then i couldnt live without one i struggle with them now (dpads)

Maybe joysticks aren`t designed for 12hr/day use. But D-pads certainly are ...and they cause less strain for the thumb. Which means in terms of durability , D-pads are definitely superior. Besides if SE were to take feedback on its ergonomics they would certainly prefer to hear from harcore(12hr/day) SE users rather than light users. During my entire experience with SE for the past 4 yrs... SE joysticks never performed upto the mark . Yes you maybe right that I overused my joystick phones too much for them to fail . At the same time I overused my d-pad phones too and I didn`t face any problem with them. When my joysticks failed within 2 months of purchase, my d-pads lasted even after 7 months of heavy usage.
Summary :
If joystick phones are not suitable for a 12hr/day user, then D-pads certainly are.
It is obvious from your post that you weren`t using ur joystick that much or atleast not as much as I do.

Not necessarily - the fact is they know guys like you will break their joysticks no matter how hard they try, that's just joysticks for you. They can't win.
Besides, it's laughable to even imagine that SE don't do their market research on this. They don't stumble around blindly hoping people will like their phones. Infact, SE brought out more dpads in response to user feedback, but they still didn't remove the joystick from K series flagship, which means they MUST have had strong feedback in favour of joysticks from the K series demographic, IMHO.

I use it a fair bit, about 2 hours a day worth of reasonably heavy joystick use (games, camera functions, messaging, and general menu browsing). 12 hours is significantly more than that though....hardly typical use.
I'm not arguing that a dpad isn't more durable anyway, that's obvious. I'm simply arguing that for some purposes a joystick is a better controller than a dpad. You don't have to agree, that's your perogative - but many people do agree with me and that's why I don't think it would be appropriate of SE to remove the joystick on all models. I don't see it as an either/or argument. Why not keep both, so peeps have a choice?
There are choices for you - why not the W810, it's a nice little phone? Or, the K610. I just don't see the issue I'm afraid.

if there is one thing I hope SE never does again, is to have a creaky D-pad like the one on W810...horrid! Never had a problem with SE's joysticks, they are great:)

My last phone without a joystick was an Ericsson T29s, about five years ago. since then i have had a T610, T630, K700i, and K750i(all of which have it) and have come to love the joystick. i totally disagree!
