hi.
i got my p990i last week and i am just wondering if any of you guys are having any trouble with the 3g video calls? i wanted to learn more about my new phone so one time i tried using the 3g video call function. it was the first time for me to do a video call and i was amazed by it. according to my friend, it took some time before she could see me on her phone ( a nokia) but i immediately saw her image on the p990i. it was fun although i could barely hear her voice thru the phone's speaker.
but while i was in the middle of a conversation with my friend, the p990i's screen froze and i lost the connection of the video call. in other words, the p990i hanged. i can't remember if other applications were still on when i made the call. have any of you guys experienced the same thing with your p990i?
I tried it with my p990i but it kept saying video calls not available, probably due to tmobiles crappy network coverage but i did have the 3g icon and full reception.
But to be honest its not something that i would use as its quite expensive at the moment.

bluesun..
connect thru wi-fi and open Web (Opera) and use the Sony Ericsson Start Page and click Settings, enter the required info and you will receive your settings.
im on SMART Network and i was told the same, no configuration yet for p990i. I used Sony Ericsson Start page and was able to get the SMART MMS and GPRS/WAP settings.
So far i never experienced any problems when i am using video call.
Im also using Mac (MBP) and installed Boot Camp for me to synchronize my Contacts and was able to use SEUS to update CXC 162037 R4B001 to CXC 162037 R5A006.
So far Boot Camp is the only solution until apple releases an updated iSync.

Like Jah i feel the same about my p990i although im not too impressed with the audio quality of the p990i, well to be exact its the overall volume of the media player that im not impressed with. But its not a big deal for me as i use my k800i as my media player along with my hbh ds970 bt headset and it works brilliantly well.
The RAM issue isnt much of a concern to me to be honest and i really cant understand why some people are making such a big fuss over it really. I mean who in their right/sane mind would run 10 or more apps???, frankly its laughable. I myself have no problems running the web browser, typing out an sms or email and then opening up the rss feed to check my rss feeds and ive yet to suffer a crash or hang. So personally i dont really see the RAM issue being such a problem as some here make it out to be. I think with the new firmware recently, multi tasking has become alot better in my opinion. Funny how people moan about the p990i but yet arent willing to get rid of it

.
The p990i does have bugs, no doubt about it but so far ive had it for over a week and i have to say everytime i pick it up im constantly amazed by its capabilities...its an amazing unit for what it is. 3G web browsing is super fast as Jah earlier said...the only problem i seem to be having is trying to access secure pages, keeps coming up with an error saying network error...i dont know if its the built in browser or its my network thats causing the problem there. Will have to check on k800i to see if i get a network error.
Other than that i love it despite its little bugs and niggles...would i recommend this phone??..without a doubt yes. In fact ive recommended it to my boss whos quite impressed with the phone and is looking to get a few for the company.....just hoping that the blackberry connect will eb working soon as hes most interested in that.
Thats my views on the phone, until something better comes out i dont think ill be getting rid of this phone for a long time.
If I gave the phone to my users I am certain that within a day or so I would have a pile of so called "faulty" units on my desk. Most "non SE enthusiast users" will expect the phone to manage the memory for them,it simply would not enter their heads that they have to manage the processes themselves and nor should they given the cost of the phone. In the business I am in people like to have the latest high tech gadget to show off at the track and theyu all want it (me included) , but at the moment I am a long way from recomending this phone for purchase, so far I have been acused of knocking

and exagerating the phones bugs! looks to me like I was sport on!

@spawn
not the RAM,what i'm talking about is the storage of the phone or the phone memory. For all users og p990i in the philippines try getting the configuration from the m600i because they have the same operating system.

If you were talking about a phone like k750 or k800, i would agree...but the P990 requires some more expertise from the user...with more bugs or less bugs

@ spine6:
i got it for 47,600 at virra mall. another shop was offering a p990i for 44,600 on a per order basis... but it does not include any warrantee for the phone.
my mms now works. my wifi connection works too... but i still can't browse the internet via gprs.
also, the golf game doesn't seem to load on my phone. i just deleted the game since i don't play the games on my phone that often.
i have yet to try the video call again... but so far, my p990i have not crashed since the last time.

@Spawn:
as of the moment, we're lucky to have free video call services in the philippines. all video calls, as long you're calling someone from the same service provider, will be charged as a regular voice call.
that is why i have no qualms on using the video call function. hehehe.
