right found this for accessing the shared file:
Viewing Shared Folder in Guest OS
To view the contents of the shared folders in the guest OS:
Start the virtual machine.
Open Windows Explorer.
In the Explorer, select My Networks Places, then select Entire Network, and find the Parallels Shared Folders.
Click the Parallels Shared Folders to view the list of shared folders available in your virtual machine.
When working with a shared folder inside a virtual machine, keep in mind that the ability to save files into this folder depends on its Read Only setting.
only problem is I cant find this entire network thing?
it appears I have to use the parrell tools thing thats sposed to be in windows, but I cant find it anywhere...

in VMWare, the vmtools (same thing by the sounds of it) is installed from within the VMWare software; have you checked for an option for installing the Parallel Tools to the virtual machine, within the menu options of the Parallels software itself?
Once the tools are installed on the virtual machine, you'll be able to go into the Start Menu and find the tools there. Atleast that's how it works in VMWare.

On a VMWare virtual machine, it's setup via a virtual floppy - you install from the virtual floppy that is setup upon creation of a new VM.
Check "my computer" and see if there is any virtual disc or drive that contains the Parallels Tools?

have you checked the actual Parallels menu bar. Not in the Windows Progam menu, but in the Parallels menu itself (on the mac)? Once the Guest os is running, a new option may appear in the Parallels menu called "Install Parallels Tools".
Atleast that's how I read it, but I can't run Parallels to check!!
