When you travel a lot, N73 is very good choise: it's quad band GSM (and EDGE) + 3G.

i gave my friend US$200 to buy a nano ipod but istead decided to buy k800. however my friend's cousin has a friend who got bored of its n73 and sold it to him for just $300. so instead of buying a $400 k800 he grabbed the 2 weeks old crap n73.
i hated him for a while. and he even sent me a picture of him in that crap blurry n7think!!!
i am practically waiting for a se with 5mp camera and a walkman branded even if its high end.
get something else than that crap thing.

I had a n73 (unbranded) before, had it for 2 months, but it was terrible, I sold it on ebay and bought a k800i instead, which I am much happier with.
The problem with the N73 is that it is so slow (and i know how to use the phone!) even viewing your gallery is really bad, especially if you have a large amount of pics, i think on average it was about 5-8 seconds, just to bring up the first picture, if you changed to view another pic it would take about 3-5 seconds. When you run java apps you cannot change the volume, its either on (very very loud!) or off! The snooze on the alarm cannot be changed, which would be ok, but silly nokia have set the snooze interval at 5 mins! I need more time for my snooze. The light on the phone is annoying too, constantly flashing (and yes i know u can turn it over). The phone doesnt perform as well, some newer java games are unplayable on it, whereas k800i is better (eg. the new fast and furious game).
The camera itself is ok, I think people overrate it, the viewfinder when u open the lens, it looks really washed out has a kind of pale white colour to it, I have seen this on my friends phone too, so it wasnt faulty. After u take the picture (which also takes ages!) the phone does some processing to the pic and makes the colours look too bright, not realistic at all, when there is no light its a total waste of time, the led is very weak! I must admit the video recording is really good quality.
Screen quality is OK, but remember its the same res as the k800i, its bright and beautiful, but in a way i prefer the k800i's screen.
k800i also has better battery life, feels much smaller in your hand and pocket too. Build quality feels better too, n73 back cover is plasticy and squeaks when you apply pressure.
N73 is great for tomtom GPS, cos of the big bright screen, and as a gadget, but k800i is a much better phone in my opinion.
Overall I think if you want a smartphone, n73 is probably ok, but if you want something like your w800i (i am an ex owner of this phone also), then go for k800i. This is just my opinion, I have had both phones in my possession I chose to sell the n73 and keep the k800i.

the latest firmware for the n73 is very stable, and quick. and picture quality is good. n73 is definitly a better gadget, and you can do alot more with it than you can with the K800.

Right - After alot of reading up, debating and reminiscing of 7610 times past I think I have just decided to stick with my still very adequate W800, gonna wait for SE to pull there finger out after all and make something worth upgrading too!
I couldn't quite bring myself to hit the order button on the N73, its just not quite what I want! and I don't trust it not to fail on me time after time again like my old 7610 did + the OS sounds quite slow too.
Time to refurb my W800 me thinks with a new shell and a good de dust
Thanks for your thoughts people!!! Appreciated.

@Palu_C, Darkdev, and Bluechips,
You complain and compare two different phone types, showing that you have little idea about phones in general, and make unsupportable claims based on a lack of knowledge.
THe N73 is a SYMBIAN phone while the k800i is not. Apples and oranges.
http://europe.nokia.com/A4325308. Take a look and then compare this to the k800i.
