I don't see the problem with teaming up with Sagem. Sagem doesn't make great phones, but then great phones start at the design table not the factory. Sagem with its tiny market share probably has some extra production capacity and it makes sense for them to manufacture a brand that will sell. Also they're french and their factories are probably in France. We don't really seam to notice that most low-end SE's are ODM anyways, but mostly chinese. So what's so bad about phones being made in France?

This is not the first ODM for SE...so I don't expect this ODM deal will ends up having SE phone at entry level come with a unique connector....unless
they want to keep the price so low tht they are willing to get standard
DC connector or USB connector for connection.
maybe they need to think about getting AAA battery to power entry level phone....plus other low end stuff.
it will ends up everyone can own a phone.

www.digitimes.com then you will know all those J series or low end
K or Z series are ODM product from Taiwan
so maybe this is better...because this is the first ODM from French.

Many of my friends by SAGEM (i cant stand design of the or UI and lack of features) and they have mistreated the handsets dramaticly.

Was at a party and my friend with sagem got drunk and started jugling his sagem flip and he dropped it on tiles and the back came loose/ unclipped (not cracked or anything) o he had a slightly opened back sagem for a while then he accidently dropped it in a sink of soapy water. Phone kept on functioning except for external screen (the external screen should have been least affected due to the open back but it was not (mystery there) the an hour later it cam back on, and the phone should have been rendered unusable yet it kept on puffing/whizing etc
Many more stories like this to.
That is the only good thing about SAGEM
I am against SE and SAGEM working together
Why oh y couldnt SE choose a company like panasonic, toshiba, sharp or LG

Panasonic...they can't even keep their own mobile unit and ends up merge it with NEC and have gave up all the GSM business. I doubt they have a good mobile platform too.
Toshiba... possible but then....I know many of these japanese brand is actually using ODM supplier to produce GSM phone.
SO it might not be logic to work with such company....compare to Sagem who still have their own design team
