i still can live with all those... but then again those problems listed are highly unusual.... that simon guy is full of it... the biggest issue at this point is the certification for all the apps to be developed, thats really stupid, but than again i can live with that....

my main issue is how to get my locked SPV (soon to arrive) unlocked....

@boyi
It does have media player but the browser is unable to cope with frames. If you had the direct link to the stream it would work

@decoy7
definately developer hostile, how can orange expect people to pay them to develope for their platform when it's completely free to develop for the pocket pc platform, which is pretty much the same thing

@MDS
I have decded to send mine back, mate. It's too slow and there are so many simple bugs and mistakes on the phone - it's the kind of errors that a phone company would never make (well at least not any more) this phone has it written all over it that it's not made by a well established phone manufacturer.

So I'm gonna send it back and if they sort it out then maybe I'll try it out again.

but on the fact of the phone being slow, I can play an mp3 or something and then go and do something else and the mp3 will skip while the phone thinks about me browsing through the calender or phone book.

Other bugs like the phone not recognising numbers on sms's is another example of their inexperience with phones.

tell me what you think when you get it

I think your being a little to critical, yes the phone is slow at times but no slower than the T68. The battery life isn't that good but you have to remember its powering an aweful lot of phone. The menu operations are a breath of fresh air, clear and easy (once you get used to it) it knocks spots off the people's favorite the T68 and makes it feel very dated. The keypad is awkward and the on/off switch doesn't always work, but IMH these are minor faults which I can live with so over all I think its an excellent phone. Its a brand new phone and im sure within a few months we'll have a updated OS which BTW can be downloaded to the phone. With features like MSN, full web browsing (doesn't like frames, I'm sure a fix is on the way) and VERY easy email use/setup. One other niggly fault the alarm clock doesn't work with the phone off.

basically I had 7 days to test the phone out to its limits and yes I agree with you that it is amazing but there are so many faults that I have decided to stick my t68 until the faults are resolved and then I will give it another 7 day trial, if most of the faults are resolved and the Orange certification is removed / cracked / lightened then I will keep it next time but at the moment the phone just annoys me because it has the potential to be the best phone ever but due to the certification the millions of apps that are out that would work on it don't!!!

I mean take for example the infrared port, ever since I got my 6130 (orange version of the 6110, also called the nk702) I wished that some one would release a piece of software for the phone which would allow my infrared port to act as a remote control and guess what, there is a piece of software for the pocket pc platform, I downloaded it, it looked like it was gonna install fine and then blam the stupid certification.

All in all the reason I decided that the phone had to go back was because after the seven day period the phone was gonna be mine for a whole year and the way that it works now and the million and one faults coupled with very poor battery life and software certification I just thought to myself I'll send it back and save the hassle of checking the boards every day and praying that someone was gonna crack the certification because if I know Orange, and I think I do after having been with them for the past 4 years and my parents both having contracts since before it was even called Orange, I don't think they will ease up on the certification. They have done it because of the implications one dodgy piece of software would have to them, they would be overwhelmed with people demanding a new phone and because 99% of Orange contract users have insurance (aka Orange Care) orange would be left to foot the bill. Plus on top of that Orange are really interested in having the latest technology but to spend the time and money certifying software that already exists for the platform is something I know they DEFINATELY WILL NOT DO, I could maybe see microsoft doing it but NOT ORANGE.
Plus if a crack ever does come out, mark my words, if Orange find out you put some un-certificated software on your phone they will refuse to replace it, and even if someone does crack it, Orange have the ability to update the software so it knows which are genuine and non-genuine apps and this will be implemented by a few simple clicks on the handset along to the Orange update feature and trust me they'll bundle it with a worthwhile update so you'll definately want to update.

In regards to the phone not working with other SIMs even if they are on Orange I don't believe this is true.... I phone Orange and told them that I wanted to give my SPV back and they told me that my old SIM was going to receive an update to have it turned back on. So I put my old sim in the SPV so I could still play with it and I could make calls with it but then I got the update and nope nothing, so I don't know whether the SIM won't work because my account is no longer geared up for the SPV or whether Orange blocked my handset to ensure that if it was stolen / intercepted in transit it would be useless to the finder.

Anyway the best person to answer this one has to be Orangeman

But overall yes it is a great phone but I have to say that I am pissed off with companies releasing phones before they are done, take this phone and the blasted original versions of the t68. Don't release a phone if it ain't ready, it means hardcore people who love the newest phones have to put up with a whole heap of shit in the first few months!!!

Sort the SPV out, put it on a diet to drop it down to 90g, slap a P4 in there and hook up a nice and light with super long lasting power t68 battery on there so it lasts for at least two days with some useage.

I mean this is the phone where if you use your phone alot and you forget to charge it over night I can guarentee you that it will die on you through out the course of the next day!! (and the manual says that you may loose data!!! but I don't think it will I took the battery off while it was on, didn't loose any data but the screen stayed on in a kinda interlaced fashion with every other line missing! Weird but kinda impressive since it stayed like that for ages until I decided to put the battery back on a good couple of minutes!)

also if you have a SPV and go ack to your SPV beware because you'll find yourself deleting stuff!

The back button is in the same place as the 'c' button and the spv uses that button alot

oops.. another contact. Thank god for outlook

I am having trouble downloading a video for the windows media on the spv, the phone will either not read the file or claim it can not be played. Does anyone know which video files the spv will play
