No offense dude but when it comes to 3G and mobile telephony, the US is the third world. Actually if it was a licensing issue for Apple regarding EDGE vs. 3G technology in their US version phones, they made the correct decisions. Why spend money on US networks that aren't up to snuff.

So in short dudes - Apple WILL be making an announcement tomorrow regarding the UK release date... and specs of the phone? Or was this just some bollards from some bored geek somewhere?

I reckon if Apple DID announce the UK release date tomorrow... along with the announcement that it WILL have 3G, they will well and truly get blasted by EVERYONE. It will be a marketing disaster for them. Although all in the UK will be happy

Yes and no. The US does not need 3G phones because there are very few 3G networks. Europe is more mature so the phones would be welcomed.

I am soooooooooo tempted by the iphone - BUT only cuz Im a hardened Mac user. But I really do not want to be seeming to follow the hoards of people buying the iphone just as a fashion accessory

I was swayed by the P1i and W960 - but with SE not supporting Macs it's a major downer for me.

I am tempted to get one even though it has only EDGE, and then either sell it when the 3G versions come out. Hopefully common sense will prevail.

By the way, Nokia is fully committed to supporting Mac products.

Nokia are great at supporting Macs. But I own an N95 and can't wait to get rid of the paper-weight. It's possibly the sh1test "phone" I've ever had.

Sapporobaby, I'm guessing you're in the US right now? Otherwise iphone will be useless to ya. Or do you have a way of un-locking the thing

Cheers mate,

Nope, in Finland but am American with an American version MacBook Pro. I too have the N95. Wait for the new f/w upgrade. My friends at Nokia tell me they have fixed mucho. This should make it the phone that it was supposed to be. Regardless, once the iPhone reaches Europe, I am getting one. When the N95 is working, it is the best phone I have ever used, however, when broken, it is pure crap.

I'm currently going through all hell with Nokia.

I'm on my 6th handset and am still having problems with it. And these aren't little quibbles like many have been complaining about (wobbly slider, key presses not sounding right etc) but problems with severe earpiece distortion, severe high pitch noise from screen (to point where I can't stand to have long conversations on the phone), constant crashing... the list goes on dude.

I can't tell you too much about what is going on between me and Nokia right now - but when/if everything gets sorted out I'll let you know how smack bang out of order Nokia have been to me. You will be shocked. Trust me Thing that really annoys me most is that even though they have treated me with the least bit of respect I have still been incredibly civil to em.

If Nokia can be 4rsed to sort out my handset soon, I seriously hope they release the perfect firmware soon.
