True. I'd never buy a phone for it's branding (in fact when it comes to operator branding I do my best to get rid of it!), but I also like branding when it represents a quality product. For the same reason I like the Walkman branding.
I do believe there is a cross pollination of ideas between SE and Sony Walkman and Cybershot divisions. I know the K800 isn't made by "sony cybershot", and I know the W800 wasn't designed by "sony walkman", but there is bound to be a degree of expertise exchanged by Sony and SE. It's unlikely to me that SE would not have sought guidance from Sony when developing the idea of a Walkman or Cybershot phone. It just doesn't make sense that they wouldn't utilise Sony's experience.
So I feel the Sony branding of SE products does represent something real and not just for name's sake.

I FULLY Agree.
Most ppl on Cybershot phones complain because its NOT the CMOS chipset thats in ... well a Sony Cybershot Camera. Although we'd ALL LOVE that ... its not going to happen for some time. BUT Cybershot represents not the CMOS but the camera USER interface. Very similar to the Cybershot phones although less feature set & intrusive.
Walkman I believe that SONY played a significant ROLE in development of the walkman player. Great work actually.
We all know how cool the media manager GUI is & why its there .... brand name recognition. We ALL recognize its part of the PS3's linux customized GUI even though non of us have ever played, owned a PS3 machine.
I wouldn't be surprised to see elements of the PS3 Home being transferable over BT directly or indirectly via FUN & Downloads for models that have this new File manager application.

This is a difficult question to answer conclusively at the moment, for a couple of reasons:
Firstly, CCD is an expensive sensor option, with CMOS sensors still being common in digital cameras, especially mid to low end. So CCD prices have not dropped fast enough to supplant the need for cmos technology.
Secondly, CMOS sensors have gone through some radical improvements lately, and their ability to produce images with the same characteristics as CCD, but still with the low power use and low cost advantrage of CMOS, means ultimately there may be no point in using CCD for anything but ultra high end.
A sign of this is the use of a 10MP CMOS sensor in the Canon EOS400D DSLR.
So my feeling is that CCD will steadily be replaced with CMOS in all but the high end DSLR and Prosumer markets. This would mean CCD will never become common in mobile phones. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if we never see another CCD SE camera phone. S700 could be a very unique and special slice of history.

I see everyone to complain about K800's photo quality!But,in reality,its quality it's the best in 3.2 megapixels.Also,the amount of features that camera has is also unique.I agree that there are other solutions from Nokia,Samsung etc that are also good but you can't say that they have the features and easy controlling..I'm a SE fan but i'm not offensive about other companies..If a company manufactures something good,i'll recognise it..I think that this logo includes quality,features and ergonomy..
