Hmm.. the chicken is a bird, therefore it has evolved from the dinosaurs.
At some point in its evolutional path, in a specifc generation it must have been so different from the dinosaurs that it had to be considered a new species. From then on its eggs would be defined as chicken eggs, rather than dinosaur ones.

The reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.
Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.
The living organism inside the eggshell would have had the same DNA as the chicken it would develop into,. The first living thing which we could say unequivocally was a member of the species would be this first egg. So, I would conclude that the egg came first

[/quote] You are on the right track lol. Chicken was frist because in the book of genesis chapter one God says let there be animals acording to its kinds. He made them all including birds. So the chicken was first. Do you agree with me mates?

Well if the egg came first and some stupid plodding animal say elephant stepped on it there would be no egg nor chicken. So a hen hatched an egg and well it obviousely was fertilised by a rooster.

Well chickens evolved from something else, so whilst they were evolving a not complete chicken layed the egg which inside was the chickens as we know them today...( that could have been random gibberish)
