Downloaded from Google.COM/gmm.....no support for touch screen

read this forum then tried French site google.fr/gmm......touch screen supported but everything is in French

Lastly tried google.co.uk/gsm...this works just as well as French version but is in English

So if you want touch screen support in English download from google.co.uk/gmm............this works just fine

Or just use this link and change the version number accordingly

No it doesn't.. which is too bad.

Dunno what they changed for the UIQ release compared to the 1.6.4 version. Seems stable though, just no "My Location" (and no compass-icon)

What versions of this are people running now?

The version I got from here:

www.google.com/gmm

.. doesn't allow using a stylus, and why the hell should we put up with the deficiencies of others phones!?

This version does:

www.google.fr/gmm

(but it's in French!)

I can't remember if I tried

www.google.co.uk/gmm

.. because I'm tired of uninstalling and installing now.

Also, why don't they offer / publish a way to download the application on your PC? Does anyone have reliable links for this?

www.google.co.uk/gmm

gives an english version of google maps with touch screen support. I dont know about my location, i didn't try.

So if anyone needs the UIQ english version just log onto the above URL via the phones in-built browser and you will get the touchscreen version i did so last night and it worked fine.

My only problem is that the icon used to depict google maps is the default UIQ java icon (purple diamond shaped icon) anyone know how to change this if possible?

Just installed Google Maps from "www.google.co.uk/gmm" on my P1i and it's much better than the "default" version. English language, interface is better and it supports touch-screen. Thank you for this link.

Even after downloading google maps from www.google.co.uk/gmm and installing it, I still don't have a touchscreen support, which makes this program useless . Anyone have any idea what might be wrong ??
