I really don't understand how you say the N95 8GB is slow in anything it does as it boots in 22 seconds and any app opens immediately no delay or lag. Compare that to an SE smart phone that takes a minute plus to boot and even messaging that takes ages to open as per the many complaints in the P1 thread.
If you only want to buy SE fair enough that's your choice but please stop inventing problems for a device just because it's not from SE and especially when SE's are so much slower it's a joke to complain about a Nokia smart phones speed.
@Bav
Congrats on you choice and i may i suggest you encode @256kbps AAC for great results iTunes works well for doing this.

Walkman branded SE phones does make difFerence, Iook the MegaBasS, other brand didn't offer better bass (extrabass, superbass, bassboost, whatever), and not only that, walkman handsfree hpm70 like was modified Sony earphone MDR-xx (i forgot the series, feel lazy to search), and yes it offer muchmore better quality than ipod, even n91 (without sennheiser), almost similar to real Walkman sound, hard to notice the differences.
So, who can prove the Walkman on SE just a brand name and didn't offer walkman quality, prove it, dont just talking b-sh*t. IOn my country, many Nokias user move to Walkman phone coz it quality really promising. A friend of mine power up his n95 with SE hpm-70 in-earphone andI hpm-85 walkman headphone because he not satisfied with it n95 handsfree, and now he waiting for w96

Thanks Dogman. I actually already encode all my stuff at 320kbps. Just need to find a decent set of in ear headphones. Looking at either the Shure EC2's or a pair of Sony Noise reduction ones if i can find some.

nokia's fones has been functional in all of a phones concepts but in SE there are K/W/T Series so i think that nokia put more function in music like walkman fones...thats why not all walkman fones have good camera not like k series...

Surely as you are the one claiming greater performance from a weaker processor and a no DSP chip device it is for you to prove how this manages to produce superior performance.
As how ever much you want it to be true it just isn't, Walkmans may be better than average mobiles but not the top of the range N series that have OMAP 2420 processor with DSP, whilst it is true Walkmans once led the field that was along time ago and Walkman phones have not advanced whilst others have both caught up and overtaken their performance.
As for the the headsets you mention sorry but they are only adequate at best the same as any bundled headphones are even though they may be based of the MDR ranges they are only the 51's at best.
Well as for this statement
"and yes it offer muchmore better quality than ipod"
You really can't be serious that's just the most ridiculous statement to make and again as i have pointed out all supplied headphones are only adequate at best encode your Music at a High quality bit rate and use a decent set of headphones and then you will see the quality of sound produced. At this level Walkmans are no where near the best and if you don't believe me just read what dissipointed SE fans have to say even about the W950 on this Forum. Some of you and others belief in Walkman and SE is just not justified by actual performance how ever much you want to believe SE and Walkman phones deliver they just don't unfortunately.

@ QVGA
never mind, i got it. by pressing theback button i could indeed scroll, silly me.
@ Dogman
Seriously, i have used my friend's n5 8gb n It could be possible that it is utterly slow because it is spoilt. now he needs to restart his phone every day(more than once) to use his phone else he gets the general phone error thing. N its only 2 weeks, since he brought his phone. He has gone to the warranty ppl to get his phone exchanged. So i think that might solve the problem.
So this experience did change my mind from n95 8gb to w960i. I have resorted to this because, when i compared few operations on w950i and n95 8gb, side by side, i found that opening of phone book and calls wer faster in w950. I havent tried other stuffs.
OBviously, n95 8gb is an all rounder. It will be a better choice to most, but since i buy a phone because of music, i will be getting w960i(or w980 if at all its announced on dec 12), because i cant listen to music without mega bass.

Well if his N95 8GB is slower than a W950 it is not right as even the normal N95 is faster than UIQ3. I really don't know what he did to his but it is seriously not as it should be from what you are saying that's for sure.

I'm not claiming walkman sound better than nokia with dsp chip as i never tried it before, but my experience compare to n95 and n91, walkman sound, dunno that nokias have a dsp or not. What you say is true but i as my experience with PC hardware, fast and high processor absolutely improve phone performance but not for audio quality, you cant compare sound based on the processor speed, the only advantage to the sound just the music app will running with better speed, less lagging and can improve nicer visualisation.
Bundled walkman handsfree much better than other phone bundled hf, even k750 which hardware same as w800 didnt provide richer and better quality audio to w800. You can try it yourself, thats why the hpm70 hf price $10 (my country) higher than general SE phone bundled hf.
About w950, yes i had experience the problem before, hf sound will be low and some other problem, but it work perfect now after i update it with latest firmware. I happy with my w950.
Point of my post before is 'Walkman not just a brand name', only that. Maybe some Walkman phone had a problem with the sound quality, but that was only firmware problem, Real Walkman quality fone always give us. great sound quality, thats why SE now identic to Music phone.
And last, i admit SE do too badly this 2years, if SE continue do a bad work and offer bad phone again, i think i will get another brand.
thank you for respon, and sorry for my bad english
