I have compared both and N82 records better video than N95-1 (v20 firmware). With stabiliser on for both, N82 video is smoother and less jumpy.

I have seen Viewty video from phonearena review and it looks slightly better than N82. But color of viewty video is not good as it is very washed out. But smoothness is better. So I rank:

Viewty
N82
N95 (N95 8g?)
N93

In the world of mobile phone cameras no CMOS beats a standard CCD, same goes for video, you would either need very large highly developed CMOS sensor or, a standard size CCD to achieve better colors when recording, those phones you've mentioned are imho a big joke compared to this thing:

yeah it records in 30fps VGA which is 90Frames lesser than Viewty, but the crap CMOS sensor bundled in Viewty is no match to the high-quality CCD sensor this phone has - you know what are the advantages of CCD over CMOS especially in color saturation and sharpness as well as the light sensitivity

Just my 2 cents

I dont think he was referring to all phones worldwide he meant in Europe. Asian phones are more advanced.

feature wise i'd say the LG Viewty has a killer feature in it's 120fps recording ability, it's the kind of feature that sells a phone, how many people will actually use it is another story but when you see proper slow motion on a phone, you cant really compete or compare other handsets that dont have that feature.

i've got the N95 and it's video recording was the best there was at the time when it came to market with ground breaking 30fps making a significant impact on mobile phone video footage.
not only that but the sound recording on the N95 is also very good, especially when recording music:

when you look at clips on Youtube it's difficult to compare quality as Youtube re-encodes video that's uploaded and depending on your source file this can have differing results that do not indicate which source file has the best quality.

saying that, when i viewed N95 clips on my tv at home i remember the tv advert saying 'DVD like quality'....that was way off.

LG viewty has the best video recording abilities at present imho

nokia N93 , 95 and 82 are all very good as well

just hope SE learns some lessons and starts improving their video recording features in all their phones , present and future
actually can't imagine a company like Sony which has so much experience in building fantastic camcorders lagging behind
