Despite what seems to be problems with the G900s camera I am still very keen on getting this phone - I have seen the mobile-review gallery but have there been any galleries of the dark brown model spotted online?

To consider: P1 was SE's UIQ flagship for 2007...and SE used the cheapest, worst possible 3.2mp sensor they could for the camera(GBrooks3 even posted tech links to the manufacturer's website on here)......

So why does anyone expect them to use a half-decent sensor in a UIQ mid-range device, a year later?? They haven't bothered since P990......

It isn't exactly a... very strange thing to do for a "budget- phone", that isn't a dedicated camera- phone.. But the camera still sucks, obviously.

It has a high- performance lithium- polymer battery, though. N95 8gb, n82 and the new n96 all come with a lithium- ion batteries. Actually, I think every nokia- phone except the e61, e90 and the internet tablet comes with a li-ion battery. Meaning more variable current, specially with temperature- variations. And the battery will degrade steadily over time, whether you use the phone or not. In the end causing a heavy hit on the battery before you even take into account the way the hardware and software is put together..

If the G900 cam is a problem, go for the G700. I hope they sort it out because touch focus is a nice addition.

but then you lose WLAN if you go for G700.. its a prototype unit that they used.. but then again, i hope SE sort this out with the final release units..

They wont sort it. Well not that much anyway. Name one UIQ device to date whose cam has matched up to the best phone SE had in that mp category? They dont even come close.

I read somebody's post about the G900 using a new processor EMP. But actually there's nothing new in the G900 AFAIK with respect to the processor.

All UIQ 3 phones have a baseband processor and an application processor. Hence the dual processor architecture. The EMP(Ericsson mobile platform) is the baseband processor and Philips Nexperia PNX4008 is the application processor.

or maybe you just suck at taking photos with those UIQ phones???

i am very happy with photos i made with P990 and P1, and can show them around often, even if they are not on part with the best cibershot of the moment...
