Agreed, I rue the day I got my W950i... on a contract.... it just sits there mocking me, trying to make me turn it on again and suffer its 100’s of different input methods none of which are dominant, mine is probably worst than most due to its crappy orange software on it, completely changing the UI into a tiny worded mess

I used a T650i for almost a year (lost it a couple of weeks ago) and it's really a great phone. Very fast UI, ultra stable, good camera, very good build quality etc... I can't recommend it enough. Also you can get it for next to nothing these days (200 eur)
I also have a P1i and its very good for a UIQ device, waaaay faster than the M600i I previously had.
Finally I am getting a W350i next week, and I hope it will turn out a good surprise. In any case I think it has a lot of "charisma"

I did come very close buying the T650. But it lacks the QVGA video recording which is marked as NEED in my list, and I have to admit something else scared me a bit: The high SAR value.
Now let's NOT debate about SAR. Just telling that it scared me a bit, also because I heard it was banned in USA because of the SAR value.

You are absolutely right I forgot about the SAR value above 1.5, which freaked me out! I did not use it as my primary mobile partly for this reason.
Also the W350i has a 1.46 compared with less than 0.5 for the P1i. But again, I will be sparsely using it for calls.

if i rate all my

phones as:
¤ robust//stable(software)
¤ design
¤ features//power
i rate them like this.
¤ Robust//stable(software): w810 & k800............. (w810 have also beatiful design)
¤ features//power & design: K850 & K810
second place comes K750 (which have a good camera but not good allround). world first cell phone with a good camera & features.
third place comes k700 & T610 & T630....(t630 was nice phone. really robust, but crappy camera)
so i think Sonyericsson have done a really good job ever since T610/T630 !

Right now I'm so close ordering the N95 8gb. The only reason for sticking with SE at this moment is because I know their UI... but they've changed navigation so much in the K850, that it'll be new navigation anyway regardless of it's a K850 or N95.
Good photos and video recording has a high priority, and the N95 wins in all tests.
I used to think the N95 was too big though, and avoiding Symbian and touchscreen (and Nokia for that matter) also has a high priority, but good photos and video is also very important. and I'd rather use Symbian than WinCE.
I have never liked Nokia because their phones always had so many errors, and I hate companies pissing on consumers just because they can. It's so strange to see that the tables seem to have switched. I don't hear many complaints about the N95, but I see tons of people complaining about SE devices and poor service. Stuff I can agree with because I experienced it myself.
There's just a lot of work in switching brands. I wonder if the N95 will receive all contacts from an SE phone in one transfer, just like it's possible from an SE phone to an SE phone. I also hope I can find replacements for applications like MyPhoneExplorer / Float's Mobile Agent etc.
Maybe the girlfriend will switch back to Nokia as well while we're at it. Her K800 just died 15 minutes ago for no reason. She had her simcard in my W950 to try it, and after reinserting the simcard back into the K800 it won't turn on. We're on a roll here it seems.
Yes, SE is fine for mid-end users. I recently recommended a K660 to a coworker because it suit his needs. I've just had higher expectations with Sony Ericsson ever since the T68i, but looking at the last few years it's clear that SE's goal is to do mid-end phones only. Spit 'em out and make money. Attempts in doing high-end phones fail miserable time after time, and then they shut off firmware updates way too soon, Logically they'll leave the high-end market soon because they must be loosing a lot of money on it.
Maybe the switching to WinCE (Xperia) is an attempt of improvement in the high-end devices (maybe they thought the drop in sales is because of Symbian?), but from what I've heard that's not going well either.
I'm having difficulties believing that SE is too stupid to do it right. The reason for this disaster HAS to be elsewhere. But whatever the reason is, I'm sure it's going to cost more than they expected, and I wouldn't be surprised to see LG take 3rd place and puts SE in 4th in the future.
Meanwhile.... choosing between K850 and N95 has proven to be much more difficult for me than I thought. I will research the N95 now and see if I can find something astonishing that'll turn me over in seconds. Perhabs something like"Oh, the UI is almost exactly like SE's UI!" + "OMG this is the fastest freakin' Symbian device in the whole world!!" will do.

mr lou - I found myself in a very similar position to you, and by and large share your views. I have been visiting Esato for years. However, whilst originally it was because of SE phones exclusively, as time has gone on, I have become more and more interested in other manufacturer's offerings. These days, I have to say, my interest is much more likley to be in someone's elses latest device, rather than SE.
Anyway, 2 weeks ago I bought......my first Nokia ... the n95 8gb.
I have to say, its fantastic, flawless and the best phone I have ever owned (although the day I got my t68i was just as exciting!).
These days, in my opinion, brand loyalty and mobile phones just don't go hand in hand.

Well... after having watched several YouTube videoes, heard opinions and read reviews, I have ordered the Nokia N82 now.
What kind of replacements can I use for stuff like MyPhoneExplorer, WotanClient etc?
Any other Nokia Symbian beginner links will be appreciated.
Thanks

Nokia's PC Suite does back ups of the phone, although regarding a Nokia version of Myphoneexplorer, I don't know, as I never used MPE when I had an SE phone.
As for a Nokia alternative for Wotan, you can use Nemesis Service Suite (NSS) - google it. It allows you to change your product code. After that, you can update your phone using Nokia Software Updater.
Oh, you should definitely check out
www.allaboutsymbian.com - it's a very useful site, full of Nokia info!
