Before you can use the ericsson server you have to configure the one of the data accounts. The best way to do that is using the ericsson suport portal and the wap configurator, when you get to the drop down list of wap portals choose ericsson wap.

I dont really understand this bit.
1) Why are we even using an Ericsson server?
2)What is an ericsson support portal?

Heeeeeelp

Some operators don't allow you to connect to other servers (login on to yahoo using your phones e-mail feature) therfore you have to use another mobile internet provider (ericsson) in order for you to use those features. Like using aol on a bt phone line This post was posted from a T68

The ericsson support portal is a web site where you can get more info on your phone. You can also use the site to send you wap and e-mail settings via a message (saves you from waiting in tel support queues listening to boyzone :-o). This post was posted from a T68

I'm sure many of you may have received a similar e-mail from Yahoo in the past hour or so, but it seems they're turning on authentication for their SMTP (send) servers.

They kind of already did require authentication - you needed to have logged in to the POP server before the SMTP one. I think the reason a lot of people are having issues with Yahoo! is 'cos the phone tries to send mail before it receives.

I'm not sure how our beloved T68s will cope with requiring authentication on SMTP... any one know?

I have the same problem with the email on the T68. I use VIZZAVI (wap settings) to make the connection. I have configure all the Yahoo settings in my phone and in my account. What do I do wrong? The phone can't find the server.

you can no longer send mail using yahoo's smtp server using the T68. it's smtp server now requires authentication. find an smtp server in the internet that does not require authentication, and use that in your T68.

in addition, yahoo announced today that starting april 24 2002, pop3 will no longer be available unless you pay a subscription fee of USD29.95 per year.

so forget yahoo if you don't intend to pay a subscription fee.

you can still access yahoo mail via WAP, but you can only read your mail. nothing more is available.

Can anyone recommend a good UK based POP3 alternative ?

(Without the cr@p restrictions Yahoo are enforcing!)
