Then either you haven't used too many clam shells or just talk BS. My Moto V3 leaves key marks on the screen as well (also confirmed by tranced), so its nothing unique to SE as you claim.
Wiping off the screen from the shirt usually removes the trace of the keys.

i've never seen it either my own clamshells or those of others with non-SE phones. only SE phones. my mum has a v3 and there is no such mark on it, nor those of others. now who's talking BS.

yes I see some nokia clamshells with keypads scratched in the screen but most other clamshells dont seem to have the scratching and some even have the rubber stoppers

I cant see the issue here neither. Th marks arnt caused by the keys on the screen. Its only greese off ur finger being transfered from the keys to ur screen while it is closed. Its not as if the two pieces of the phone are rubbing against each other causing scratching

I think it may happen if you have the handset in a tight pocket but im not sure, if the case then get a screen protector otherwise just leave it alone and clean it

i would say the tighter the two pieces the better better hinge build.

The strange thing is that, the replacement handset hasn't got this issue. It doesn't leave any sort of markings.
