I want a phone that can zoom upto planet Neptune!
And will have a macro mode that can reveal the mitochondria of our skin's cells. Hehehe.
Seriously, improvements in mobile technology in the near future can be on eco friendliness.
Imagine a phone made from organic materials that are 100% biodegradable
Technology accompanied by ecology

Going to bump this back up, its so funny to see that most sensible *coughs* posts have already been achieved, so again, what can we see in the future (mark 2)?

Let us know what YOU think, I really want to know
*higher power headphone outputs (at least 20mW+20mW into 16 ohms; it would be nice for them to even mention this in their specifications, especially if they are selling 'Walkmans')
*FLAC /WAV playback
http://flac.sourceforge.net
*better battery life
*sunlight-viewable screens made standard
*3.5mm headphone jacks made standard
*smaller sizes packing more features are always welcome
*flawless unassisted GPS reception that rivals dedicated GPS units, not half-done phone compromises
*more powerful wi-fi reception
*flawless firmware stability
*flawless call quality and network reception (isn't that what it's about?)
*flawless browsers that work on every website
*ban of coated plastics so there are NO issues with paint wearing away after some months use. No thin plastic paint on any plastic whatsoever.
*low-end phones that connect to USB as standard, so we can save SMS and transfer content from/to them easily with freeware tools like MyPhoneExplorer
*better battery life
*proper wired LCD remote controls made standard for most phones, so you don't have to take the phone out your pocket.

I think in future so much will be put into phones it could come to things like the basics in phones becoming poor.
That has been happening for a long while.
There are lots of phones out there with bad keypads which are inefficient for texting, which is a very basic thing to me. There are lots of phones out there with pretty bad sound quality, worse reception than cheap models which can drop calls often (usually because they are trying to fit too much into one phone, which can include wi-fi and gps, pushing the circuit design). There are lots with worse battery life than a basic phone and terrible loudspeaker quality. There are some phones which freeze, crash and hang doing basics. There are some with keys that simply fail, or sliding fails, or whatever. Basically, weaknesses become more evident the more a phone is made configurable and feature-packed yet still kept relatively small. There are practical limits beyond which certain designs do suffer more than others.
