the raw intellectual energy required from you two intellectual giants to come up with those 2 insightful comments must have used a massive total of half a brain cell.

"stupidspark" was uncalled for and kinda got me into the 'half a brain cell' bandwagon. But I do think "bright" hardly represents the negativity you're spreading throughout the forum. On the other hand, yes, reliabilty and stability of SE devices is at an all time low

So you mean the current phones are not at all what I'm used to with the four-year old k750i? Maybe I should call off my plans for an upgrade then. The phone is a tool for me and it needs to be totally reliable otherwise it has zero value.

(1) 3G/HSPDA
I wouldn't love my phone without this feature, as it's cut my browsing time down drastically. I do still use a few phones with EDGE and *shudder* GPRS browsing, but 3G is my love. I can only wonder how my browsing will pick up when LTE/4G rolls out. Also, other than calls and texts, all that I do rely on the internet, so the faster it is, the happier I am.
(2) TrackID
When my MP3 player dies, I tend to listen to the radio a lot. This feature has greatly helped me load up my MP3 player with music that I like, instead of wishing that I could listen to that one song that I heard one day while doing something...
(3) Bluetooth
I don't use headsets that much, honestly, but it's nice to send something to my phone from my computer without having to remove the M2 card or pull out another wire. Also makes sending files to another phone super easy. I do honestly miss having Bluetooth AND IR though... :'(
(4) The GUI
The only other interface that I have found to be acceptable is the Nokia interface, but I much prefer the SONY Ericsson interface, as it just feels more elegant...
(5) The accelerometer
While this is more of a recreational feature, I love it. It really trips people out when they see me moving my phone around, and then realize that I'm actually doing stuff on my phone by moving it around. It's also nice to control the music player by shaking it.
(6) The GPS
While this isn't absolutely necessary, it's a VERY handy feature. I used to use the Google maps that could locate me via the triangulation of the cell towers, but this is much more comforting, since it is true GPS.
(7) The ease of modifying A2 phones.
My sweet w760i is now even sweeter, having had the menu modified so that the features that I use are available to me, instead of what was thought that I wanted, in addition to getting rid of the PlayNow on the main menu.
(8) The community behind SE phones.
This may be stretching the topic a bit, but I have to admit, I enjoy having a great community to fall back on if I have questions regarding my phone. Even though it's slightly fallen from what it used to be, for the most part, everyone here knows what they're talking about and offers amazing help.
(9) The design
I can honestly say that all the SE phones I've own are beautiful. They are gorgeous, as opposed to some of the goofier looking designs out there...
(10) The ability to open Flash Lite
Okay, so this isn't specific to SE phones, but still, I kinda' ran out of things specific to SE's, so this is just another thing that I love. It's great to be able to use such a powerful programming language to create backgrounds, wallpapers and more for our phones.

What's your definition of reliability? Maybe then we can help you decide

Mode: cell phone reliability for me is:
- always consistent and predictable behavior in doing what it is supposed to; no unwanted calling "by itself", no unexpected shutdowns, hangups, hangs, camera pictures should generally turn out sharp and ok, BT connections must be established immediately and reliably whenever needed, etc etc.
- the phone should have a reasonable ability to withstand wear and tear and normal environmental disturbances without breaking down.
- very good battery life time to minimize "unexpected" interruptions due to drained batteries.
More complex, bigger and heavier phones have more things that can break I guess, also draw more power - there are some important tradeoffs here.
A feature I would appreciate that is absent in the old k750i is a good xenon flash. A slightly bigger screen than k750i would be also be good.
I have no need for watching movies, gaming and gps in a cell phone, I can easily settle with a relatively small (good) screen and standard keypad input for text messaging and email in order to keep the size and weight of the phone as low as possible.

PS. Previously I've been looking at c702, I really like the water resistence in that model but was unsure about its ruggedness in other aspects, impact and scratch resistence. Also, stability and reliability is very important for me. Maybe c702 or newer reincarnations would be the ticket for me although it has no xenon flash. Maybe I should start a new thread about what would be my "dream phone"...

@blueberry63
I guess it all depends on your expectation. Before owning a W902 I came from a P990. Everyone knows what a disaster it was so right now W902 is reliable enough for me. It has never rebooted on its own in all the 6 months that I've used it (except when trying to access my netfront bookmarks after restoring a backup- but it's not unpredictable since it happens everytime I try to access it. So now it's absolutely useless though hardly missed since I can get it to work again with a master reset but won't bother doing so right now). The task manager key malfunctions once in a while but not anymore since the last firmware update. Media and typing can be slow at times, but P990 was worse so that's OK for me. The only thing that really gets on my nerve is the darn fastport which I have sent to the service center 3 times now for connection problems. I've had to change the whole board since it's so poorly designed and can easily break down through wear and tear- quoting the technician, and the number of people coming in for the same problem with the current fastport design has risen sharply. I can't even be sure if the phone will detect my headset the next time I connect it. And they call this a Walkman phone. But I can still bear with it since it multitasks much better than my P990. The phone takes really good and sharp images for daytime and lowlight shots- but only if you have super duper steady hands for low light shots which is hardly allowed by this Walkman phone since the camera button is so hard to press (if it were soft, it'd probably be just as good as C902 and we don't want that do we? Eventhough it has the same cam module as C902, the images should not be better and they made sure of it with the awkward positioning of the flash and hard button). But all in all, I'm happy with the phone right now because when it does connect (haha) the sound quality from the supplied headset is awesome and the camera interface is really fast which literally means you won't miss a shot. Coming from a K750 though...well...you should judge for yourself.

Mode, it sound like the W902 has a general design idea that could fit my expectations of features that I value. Candybar form factor, low weight etc.
Since I'm such a clumsy person I guess I would benefit from patently rugged designs. For the record I dropped the phone no less than three times today out of my shirt pocket when tying my shoes on different occasions... sooner or later something bad is definitely going to happen as I keep dropping it repeatedly on hard surfaces.
I'd really love a phone that is constructed with this in mind, also being reasonably waterproof. I'm amazed that my old k750 is still is working normally considering everything it has been subjected to, but I consider this more like a miracle than as a consequence of deliberate design features of this particular phone.
On the special functionality of that phone of yours, how well does the fm transmission work in practice? This would be a function that I would value if it actually works well (almost no fm transmitters work as advertised in a typical car environment in my experience).
