Someone said somewhere something along the lines of: "X10 and X10 Mini/Pro will all be updated to v2.1 - which means they'll be able to record HD video". As I understood it, the HD video recording was simply a part of v2.1, but apparently not.
Think you got that a bit wrong. SE official statement.

When it comes to what to expect from the updated software all three X10 models will be updated to Android 2.1 and the Xperia X10 will also get HD video recording with continuous auto focus among many other things
With other words, big brother is the only one planed to have HD recording. After all, the minis are half the price, so you can't expect them to have everyting big brother have.
Rikard Skogberg has also clearified in a blog comment that 2.1X found earlier in a brochure implies anything higher than 2.1 i.e. either 2.1.Y or 2.2 (they have not decided yet).

Why not? If the software update can do a blanket feature...
might've stumbled onto a platinum mine with the X10 Mini and Mini Pro!
At that price and feature point, they'd dominate the Android market for entry/mid level phones... and THAT is where the money is... just ask Nokia.
I just hope their "Big surprise" isn't "We've decided to make slippers instead... we'll get less complaints that way"
