Im eagerly awaiting for all those features to be thrown in, i doubt WP will pass Android in functionality though, it still has much to cover, in Android2.3.4 USB-OTG is part of the OS, and in the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update the Widgets become even more customisable, and it brings a lot of Honeycomb features such as Honeycombs far better notifications bar and no need for physical buttons.
I see in the very same way people kept forgetting the Froyo update when comparing Symbian to Android, they are NOW forgetting Ice Cream Sandwich when comparing WP Mango to Android, ICS will bring major UI redesigns, even more features and major tweaks under the hood such as full compatibility with the dual-core CPUs, and GUI HW acceleration, ICS may just catch many off guard. Things are about to get very interesting i must say, its good to have a 3rd competitor in there, although i wish it was WebOS instead of WP.
Not sure whether I mentioned this here before, but to me Q4 this year is a start of a new era!
And the end of the 2007-2011 era.. The iPhone era! The era with Apple's total domination, Androids replacing Symbians, and of course Nokia and RIM being biggest losers out of this!
This quarter we will get a new nature of iOS devices, new nature of Android devices, and the complete arrival of WP!
However, as much as I want all those rumors about ICS to come true, what makes you that certain about all these points to present them as facts?!
The big things about ICS is merging of Honeycomb and Gingerbread into the next Android version. And the only confirmed thing so far!
It was the closed-source Honeycomb the intruder here. It was a temp tablet solution till everything get ready and now Android will get back onto the right track..
However, the different UIs will be kept! The Honeycomb tablet UI can't be brought to smartphones! How would you do that?! There is absolutely no room to fit all those stuff at the four corners of a smartphone screen!
Smartphones will keep their UI with those physical buttons.
And as to other features you mentioned, if arrived will be Android exclusive, but also WP Mango has its own exclusivities as well! The big loser here is iOS actually!
However, such features would keep Android the leading horse for now.. And would make me think twice about my next upgrade.. However, IF arrived.

WP is not yet one year old. The progress they made is huge! The rate they're moving with is incredible.
They can't do miracles after all. They should be given enough time!
Are You serious? Windows Mobile OS was here like I don't know 9 years? It's as old as Symbian. They already had everything they needed. It was their decision to make it so crippled. They just changed the name a little. And don't think that they are working on bluetooth file transfer. As You said they are using iOS approach. Limit as much they can file transfer, so You won't use files not approved by Microsoft...

Changed the name a little?!
It's a totally new fresh OS coded from scratch!
They did that because WM was a proven failure! It wasn't a true consumer product. Was always meant for enterprise..
WP was designed and built with the consumer in mind. It's all about the UX.
UX proved of much more significance than fiunctionality. The 2007-2011 era dictated this new rule to us!
But there is no harm in getting an ultimate product. And unlike Apple, this is what Microsoft are working on!
As You said they are using iOS approach.
The whole point I'm stressing on is that Microsoft took a different approach than both Apple and Google and been mentioning this in every post.
Then you come and somehow manage to claim that I said: they are using iOS approach.
What is this?!
And don't think that they are working on bluetooth file transfer. Limit as much they can file transfer, so You won't use files not approved by Microsoft...
It's not about what you and I think. It's about what Microsoft reported themselves!

False Morel
When Google announced Android Ice Cream Sandwich they did announce some features it would have including a redesigned Holographic UI,which is the Honeycomb UI, other things i mentioned are things that Honeycomb 3.2 already has such as resizeable widgets and GUI HW Acceleration. Dual-core optimization is already partly implimented in 2.3.4, and as Honeycomb has dual-core optimization its obvious in ICS the phones will have it to.
The UI will reconfigure itself, if you've used Honeycomb you'll know that the UI resorts itself between landscape and portrait, they can throw it into the phone, the widgets will be resizable so the scrolling HC widgets can be made smaller.
Heres a link to what Google said and what they demoed of ICS:

Where in that link is any of what you said mentioned?!
So far everything concerning Ice Cream Sandwich is rumors! But the mere thing that both Android versions will be merged is a major thing by itself! It's definitely a new Android we're looking at.
Of course new features and optimizations will arrive, but not all of what's been circling around..
Anyway, this thread is about WP! Let's stay on topic. And for comparison purposes, unless there are confirmed official info there is no point in bringing these stuff to this discussion..

Like really?
This is basically bringing the functionality of Honeycomb to your phone, holographic user interface, better multitasking, new launcher and richer widgets. They demonstrated being able to resize a widget on your phone screen, so that you can view more of your gmail for example, from the widget.
And as i metioned other things are already in Android2.3.4, the above ARE NOT rumours, its what Google THEMSELVES announced and demoed, they didnt just announce it, they didi give a bit of detail on it.

I've read all the articles relating to ISC alreay, including the two you posted over here, and I already mentioned that we shall see a new nature of Android devices!!
However, buttonless smartphones, complete dual-core optimization (the current use of dual-core could barely be called any optimization!!!), and complete honeycomb UI on smarphones and other major stuff are all but confirmed!
Google stating better multi-tasking, better widgets, better this better that doesn't mean we'll be getting major changes in every aspect of those!
Google saying ISC being the most optimistic upgrade so far says a lot. But we still need to see the final thing to judge.

Holographic UI is the Honeycomb UI, so that has been confirmed, along with the HC type taskbar, widgets with resizing and launcher.
Buttonless phones, yes, those haven't been confirmed but is a strong possibility as they are trying to reduce fragmentation, and it would make sense as it would mean being able to use your Android phone in landscape or portrait and the UI buttons will follow just like in the HC tablets as they dont have physical buttons either.
Dual-core optimization will come to the phones as its part of Honeycomb, in 2.3.4 it is partialy there as i said before, but in ICS it will use the 2nd core as HC brings that in, no matter what you think of it, the 2nd core will be used in ICS dual-core phones as it is in HC.

All that might be great but what was this topic's name?
I've been a

feature phone for ages, never liked Symbian and have my doubts about Android. I'm trying to learn more of 7mango. Would it be as easy as my Mac?

Never used a Mac either, but WP7 sure is easy to use, you'd need Zune on your computer for file transfer though, is there a version for a Mac?
You could walk into a MediaMarkt or Saturn, where they have real phones on display, no dummies, to have a play with a WP7 phone.
