I spent months finding out everything there is to know about the P800 before i bought one.
Then when i got it i was then suprised that there was so much more stuff i could get for the phone, and most of it for nothing!

The most dissapointing thing I found was compared to the rest of SE range of phones, the same menu options didnt exist. I mean it was not until I upgraded the firmware did I get a delivery report option, and then u have to open the flip to activate it everytime, it turns it off on default when flip on. Also no profiles, what is up with that, at least they could have put an option to silence the phone when ur scheduled to be in a meeting like the T68i! This was a very useful feature!
Stupid Basic flaws like this will actually make people think again before buying SEs (or any other manufacturer that does the same) phones in future.
I would say the reason ppl stick to a particular manufacturer is largely due to them getting used to the menu system - ppl dont like to have to learn their shortcuts and tricks again, and ur def not guaranteed to have the same options available on every handset. Just like men/women, looks tire after a while, its whats on the inside that counts.
I have stuck to Ericsson since the T10 and they have teased me with the T68i's functions (which was marketed to be a business phone used by business ppl i presume) and the P800, which is not for amateurs, would be very useful for a business user. But for a business user upgrading from the T68i to P800 - I would guarantee they would be very dissapointed. They would probably go back to the T68i and use a real PDA instead.
I dread to see what the upcoming P810/P900 is like, id say by their previous record, migrating T610 owners will prob b dissapointed too.
Why couldnt they just make the P800 a phone and a PDA combined instead of a PDA with phone functions?
At the end of the day SE was created as mobile phone company/telecoms manufacturer NOT a PDA manufacturer. This is a new sector they are dipping their feet in, why not do what they know and do best - like make a decent phone (ie.like the T68i) - then add their extras? They should improve what they have first to a good extent instead of always looking for something new.
Im tired of being a paying beta tester as im sure many of u r too. My patience is tireing, I am governed by my wallet, like most, and my wallet does not carry loyalty for companies that make bad choices.
Lets hope they see some sense...

I agreed, I am so impressed with the resources, the softwares, everything... we need to remember that P800 is the first real Smartphone in the market, for sure P900 will be better, but now I am studying my P800.

Just what are the basics that are missing? With all the reviews and all the posts here screaming "ive got my p800" there was plenty of research material to make a buying decision, even down to downloading the manual from SE and checking out the functions. And the phone may be missing some functions but personally i dont miss/need them as the phone operates just as well, but obviously some people dont feel that way. Maybe SE thought 3rd party apps would appear to fill in the gaps for any missing software they didnt put in the phone

I think we should take things in perspective here mate. The P800 is a cracking piece of kit, admittedly not that great at doing some things a dedicated PDA or a dedicated phone would do. However, I think you need to realise that this isn't what it was designed for, it has been said many a time on here, but I'm going to say it again, it does a variety of things reasonable well. What do you want for your money?
If you wanted a PC you wouldn't go out and buy a PDA would you? Same principle here, if you want a dedicated phone and PDA go and buy them seperately. If you want to buy a phone\PDA combo then get the P800 because quite frankly, and I'm sorry for using technical terms here ... it kicks arse!
Yes it does have flaws, as does everything else in life. If SE (or any other company) ever release the 'perfect' device please let me know. For what you pay, and for it does and is capabale of, the P800 is, in my mind, the best value for money.
One last point, people shouldn't expect so much from things all the time. The P800 has fantastic potential, but it does have limitations. I think that we shouldn't think that it can do everything to the highest possible standard.

My P800 has replaced my Sony J5e and a Psion 3MX, both good kit in their day, i never replaced them 'cos i couldn't find a product i liked better, i have a basic dislike for IPAQ's as i have to work with this bits of crap at work. When i decided i needed a replacement it had to replace both and if possible then some more! The P800 did that!
